Hey guys,
I’m not sure if there’s a thread for this but would you guys rather see more FTITL FIGURES or NXT people in the line as opposed to the same shelfwarmers like Braun, Aj , Cena I.E.? Or is there not a market for these FTITL figures as they used to be ?

I don't think you'll find anyone here that would be flatly opposed to more FTITL figures slotted into each series. It gets a lot easier to stomach when you accept that the line has a much more broad market than something like NECA, which is geared exclusively toward collectors. There's always, always, always going to need to be balance struck in order for Mattel to play ball with its direct consumer (the retailers), their needs, their target demographic (which, like it or not, is kids and parents buying for their kids), as well as satiating the collector demo.
TL;DR - appreciate the depth that we do get, because there will always, always, always be upper tier repeats slotted into sets to satisfy the He-Man concept of it always being someone's first trip out looking to dive into the line.

I think they try to balance them and always have top guys/girls on shelves and in the line because the overall market (non die-hard collectors and kids) are more prone to like to top guys. Most of us on this board, however, are more committed collectors, so many of us would probably prefer more FTITL and NXT guys/girls rather than the same top guys/girls with different paint schemes.

I have never seen Braun warm. Even when they release the same figure in two different lines at the same time all of his figures sell out pretty quickly. And honestly after 10 years I think they finally have figured out a decent formula on how to balance out a series and which lineups makes the most sense to include a particular character or not.

I agree, I think aside from occasional distribution weirdness or the Top Talents stuff being a little too prominent, the lineups are a good mix at this point.
If leaks are anywhere near accurate, within the next 3-4 waves after 78 we're getting the first Elites of Io, the Viking Raiders, the Street Profits, Lee, Bianca, and, um, Gronk (alright but everything else is good). Plus the first return figure for JoMo as well as heavily-requested new looks like heel Bayley, an updated Owens, and new Fish and O'Reilly releases. If these are even close to reality we're going to be seeing a lot of requests come through.

Hey guys,
How about Mattel torpedoes the line by aiming it exclusively at us, the hardcore niche collectors?
Would we sacrifice the future of the line for six months of joyous obscure releases in every set?

While I (like probably many here) would like to see more FTITL, I think realistically Mattel's breakdown is pretty good. Maybe too many AJs and Rollins, but I really don't think they go overboard. Plus, given the lead time they need and the WWE's penchant for stop and start pushes, it puts them in a bit of a damned if they do, damned if they don't situation. Look at Nakamura. When Mattel went all-in on including him lineups, WWE had positioned him as a major star coming out of NXT, booked him in the upper mid-card and main event, had him win the Royal Rumble by eliminating John Cena, and put him in a WrestleMania title match with AJ. However, by the time the figures started coming out, WWE had long since torpedoed the push and people endlessly complained that he was only made because he was "Bill's favorite."

And I think naturally we're going to get more NXT figures just for the fact that they're on TV now. Roster churn is also a factor, and as more people get moved to Raw and SD, that increases their chances of being made (and probably helps out the people still in NXT a bit, as they become more prominent there to replace stars who leave). The lead times on some people have been tough when you're a fan, but the pace of FTITLs feels like it's increasing.

They had a NXT line, but they ruined it by making it Target exclusive, and put obscure figures that warmed hard (Towel Rusev comes to mind).
What they should’ve done is just make the NXT available anywhere, and include big names that Mattel can’t fit in the main line right away. We could’ve gotten Io, Rhea, Riddle, Lee, etc. much sooner, plus more Ciampa, Cole, Gargano, etc. much quicker. Especially with NXT being on USA now, I think this would be a better idea for the NXT line.

Other than Ciampa, Balor and maybe another Gargano & UE there’s really nobody else in NXT I would buy figures of.

Oh man, I need so many NXT Elites still. Barely any of the current women's roster has been made -- actually, come to think of it, not a single woman in NXT right now has a figure. Hopefully Io soon (and apparently a basic Mia?), and we definitely know Rhea's on the way, but right now there's not a single one.
That feels like it can't be right, but wow, I think it is?
But aside from the women's roster, and I will literally buy a figure of any NXT or NXT UK woman, I still need new Finn, Keith Lee, Swerve, WALTER, Commissioner Regal, and a bunch of others.

He won by eliminating Reigns, but otherwise you're correct.

I really just want WALTER tbh (since Keith Lee is guaranteed an elite here soon)

They’ve done a good job of trying to balance things. It isn’t Mattel’s fault that Balor was reportedly set for a prominent push, then he was moved to NXT before his figures dropped. Mattel doesn’t decide who does and does not get pushes or the timing of said pushes. While I do think certain guys have been glossed over by Mattel (Ryder and Hawkins from Mania?), they’ve done a good job of trying to distribute and pack properly, with the occasional short pack not making much sense (Diesel/Nash being a crap shoot at one per case when they should’ve been in their own waves).
