100%. His character growth matters, too. You'll see when you're faced with the decisions at the end, but your relationship with Johnny, your reactions to him along the way, count. I don't mean that in a "for the sake of the linear story" kind of way, either. Literally, how each individual player interacts with Johnny factors into your decision making at the end because it's up to you how much, or how little, trust you put into him, and your emotional connection with him. I thought that was really great. And about your first post, Panam is a great character too. I don't know which life path you picked, but when you play as a nomad, I think it helps add to her story arc, because V can relate to the life with her. I thought Judy was a great character too. Her romance mission (only a romance mission if you're female V) really helps you get into the type of person she is, and you get to find out a bit about her past. I was Male V. I enjoyed Judy's backstory. I did the underwater dive city with her. It all kind of ended abruptly, though. So I don't know if I did something wrong with her or the intent was just for her to get rattled by trying to make a difference, kiss V goodbye, and then bounce. I started as a Corpo. Panam was very " you" to me quite a bit early on haha. The calls from Judy post her side quest are very good.

I’ve just finished the game. I knew the storyline was fairly short so I’ve been doing side missions, assaults, gigs etc to stretch it out. I didn’t realise it was THAT short though. The game is fun. I love a number health bar, something I haven’t seen since Vice City. The story is paper thin though. Sure it branches out with Panam’s storyline but the main story is very minimal. Jackie’s fate seems like it’s meant to be a big deal. He was around for all of five minutes so his death had zero impact on me. My main issue with the game weren’t the glitches, which at first I didn’t think were too bad. They just felt like glitches that any other game as but as I progressed, they got slightly worse. My main issue was the ridiculous amount of unnecessary dialogue. A good 50% of it, including text, could have been trimmed. I don’t mind dialogue but when a lot of it is filler and doesn’t really change the trajectory of the game then what’s the point? After the point of no return, it was a good hour of just talking before I actually done anything. Not just anything fun but just anything. Talking with Hanako, Panam, Mitch, Saul etc. Look back at Arthur’s last mission on Red Dead. Interactions between him, Sadie, Abigail, the confrontation at camp and his goodbyes to John only go for a couple of minutes each, and that’s all that was needed. Shards contain several paragraphs of text that literally no one reads. Conversations between two random characters that doesn’t pertain to the story, why a character became a cyberpsycho etc. When being told about a person to kill, you’ll get told who and where. V is a mercenary, that’s all she needs to know. Next you get a borderline novel sent to you about what the target has done. The target being an NPC that has no connection to the main story. There’s so much effort that is put into writing these long winded texts that no one is reading that could have been spent elsewhere. Some mission objectives are to read said texts too, which is pretentious as hell.
