Got some more detailed ratings info from this week's WON. The Omega/Page private party match was the high point of the show for total viewers and demo. Cassidy Jericho did great too. I don't remember the low points exactly but I'm pretty sure they revolved around the start of janela Lance and the Nyla squash. I could be wrong there. UK numbers aew thoroughly squashed raw iirc. Canada numbers were decent all things considered. 80k plus, which is equivalent to about 800'000 USA viewers. We don't get the same demo info for Canada (25-54 not 18-49) so it's tough to compare there. With DVR numbers most weeks NXT and aew both see over 1,000,000 viewers typically, and a significant increase in the key demo for both brands as part of that increase. The show before fyter fest where aew had relatively bad ratings was still just under 900k with DVR.
I know people here don't like Meltzer/alvarez like I do, but Meltzer did give pretty high ratings for the show. **** For opening tag, ****1/4 for Jericho Cassidy, and ****3/4 for 8 man tag, which might be the highest tv rating he's ever given, I don't know if there's been a 5 star network tv match he's rated. Maybe but I doubt it.
Ricky Morton also gave crazy high praise to that 8 man tag, deservedly so. That match was so incredible. Could watch it five more times and find five new things each time probably. Great example that flippy stuff can still tell stories just as well as old school. Bad flippy stuff won't, but neither will bad old school stuff.
