Hi there guys! I bought a Jakks Classic Series 8 Hollywood Hogan MOC off a friend about 10 years ago because it was such an amazing figure. It started off with a perfect white boa, great quality figure but I just had a question about the packaging. I'm not too sure if it's the packaging or the boa/figure itself, but over the past couple of years it has formed a bit of a orange tinge (possibly mould/dust) and I am a little bit weary that it is damaged. Would this be correct? Here are some images for reference: Is this an easy fix with just a bit of a clean/wipe by taking the packaging out? Does this usually happen for packaging like this? Excuse the nooby questions haha I'm just afraid the value might not be high because of it. Thanks for the help guys

Does anybody smoke in your house?
My dad smokes and I noticed an orange haze on some of my bubbles I had in the living room where he did I never had it happen once I moved out.
The other thought would be sun damage, I’ve never seen the boa itself change that drastically just the package tint has gone orange before in this said above cases
As for fixing it, I tried bleach water and cotton balls and it helps but it was never perfect again

Im leaning towards sun damage. Over a while it probably has just tinted the front packaging by a lot. The top of the box I can see that theres still white in the boa, so over time the front of the box has just faded. Would that lessen the value of it? Or would it not matter much.

plastic oxidizes over time, fades, discolors. nothing you can do with a natural/chemical reaction

I take that back, you have options such as selling this one and finding a better one, but so many factors such as light and climate And storage will ultimately still do the same thing to a new one

Thanks for the help guys I have a Moc CS Midnight Express set & it’s done the exact same thing....there’s really nothing you can do for it outside of maybe selling that one & buying another in better condition....also anytime you open the package it lessens value, even if you reseal it

I kept my CS LJNs moc. Undertaker and Stone Cold have the same dingy yellow window like yours but the rest are clean and clear. They are right next to each other in the same place for years and they all came out within a year of each other so i guess its selective.

I had this happen with a couple of my old Jakk'd bobble heads. I wanna say it was Angle & Jericho. Odd thing is they were displayed with all the others with no altered lighting conditions, in a room with blacked out windows, climate controlled (room never exceeded 75 degrees), in a non-smoking household.
I know when the plastic packaging is manufactured, the plastic is petroleum based and has a very very fine film of oil to prevent sticking when cooling. My guess is on a rare occasion a sheet or two may be made with a slightly off composition or slightly more or less oil, making them more vulnerable to discoloring.
You have to think, no packaging manufacturer produces packaging with aging in mind. Packaging is made to look good until it's ripped apart and discarded.

Like almost everyone else here, it just happens with some.
I've got a few MOC Jakks figures with varying window condition.
- CS 15 Razor Ramon Has a slight yellow tint.
- DA 7 Chris Benoit No discolouration at all.
- DA 7 Chris Benoit (From Ebay not too long ago) Extremely discoloured, borderline orange.
- CS WWEShop 2-Pack HBK vs Austin No discolouration too.
- Adreanline 16 Cena vs Jericho Also has no discolouration.
- CS 2 Mankind & Dude Love Slight yellow tint, like Razor.
- ECW 1 CM Punk No discolouration too.
