Hi forum members. Does anyone know the correct size of the unreleased LJN articulated figures prototypes? And does the extent of these only include Hogan, Sheik, Albano and JYD? Of course images would help no end, especially from any party that owns these, or has had them through their hands. Thanks in advance and looking forward to your responses.

There's a Bundy prototype too. Matt Cardona owns one, I own the other (mine only has one arm). They're a little taller than Hasbros, Bundy in particular is about 1/4" taller than Hasbro Andre. Here's mine, which was originally posted on my Twitter (and purged when I deleted my tweets recently) and reposted on IG by unreleasedwrestlingfigs/fig_heel.

That thing looks terrible lol.
I'm glad they "screwed up" and went with the heavy rubber 1 piece. I've never liked figures with visible grommets and the like or seams where you can see where the body part bends (articulation) because it makes them look like they're in pieces and not "real" bodies.
I know that probably makes little sense, but I've always been a fan of them. Macfarlane puts out some good ones too, although most of the ones I like are statues and not technically toys
Curious as to the back story on that bad boy. How did you find it? How did you know it was LJN prototype? If they had samples like that, how did they mess up and make the wrong style and size? Is that rubber or plastic and is it thick or hollow?
Do you have more info?

That thing looks terrible lol. Nah, the head sculpt is insanely good in person and looks more like Bundy than the big figure does, IMO. I'm glad they "screwed up" and went with the heavy rubber 1 piece. I've never liked figures with visible grommets and the like or seams where you can see where the body part bends (articulation) because it makes them look like they're in pieces and not "real" bodies. They didn't "screw up and go with the heavy rubber 1 piece". These were never going to be the main line. These were going to be a side-line, my guess is around 1987 or so. They were shelved when the Entertech guns came out and had to be recalled, costing LJN a sh*t ton of money which lead to MCA selling LJN off to Acclaim and well, the rest is history. Curious as to the back story on that bad boy. How did you find it? How did you know it was LJN prototype? If they had samples like that, how did they mess up and make the wrong style and size? Is that rubber or plastic and is it thick or hollow? I was put in contact with a former LJN employee, the same one that Cardona has gotten several of his prototypes from and the Fully Poseable guys did too. He was on The Toys That Made Us and I talked with him at great length about these. It's resin, not plastic or rubber. It's kind of like an old GI Joe. Head/torso is one piece and hollowed out with a hook inside for the rubber band that holds the whole thing together. Arm is connected by a hook that the rubber band goes around and the legs are similar. It's got some heft to it but it's not like, really heavy. The employee had four samples: two Hogan, two Bundy. Cardona has the Hogan and Bundy with both arms, the FP guys have Hogan with just the left arm, I have Bundy with just the right arm. They're an amazing part of wrestling figure history. They're very detailed and articulated in a way we didn't get until the late 1990s. They were very ahead of the time. The designer told me the original plan was to do rubber arms and legs with a wire in them, kind of like the BCA figures from a decade later, but they ultimately went with the GI Joe style articulation. I really wish these were released. The Hogan prototype looks amazing and I'd love to see the finished product. I told you basically everything I know here.

When I read this topic's title I was 100% sure it was about the Power-Grip figures of Savage and Hogan. However I had NO idea about the figures discussed here...

The collectorate has some good images, and the bloke who has wrestled a bit and has a figure or two!

I was talking to a guy years ago who bought a unreleased Kamala LJN face mask from a guy who worked for the company back in the day. He had all the paper work and sketches for it too. It was unpainted. Really a shame they did not include it with the figure on release. That was the only one I have seen before or since. Pretty cool.

They discuss a prototype mask...I believe they ended up losing it after filming but I don’t recall that full story.

It sounded as if there might have been more than one. I don’t know for sure; I was only half paying attention to the episode.

Did they lose it! - that would cause major distress!
