100% agree with Bruce. There is no way that Vince told JR to mention all that "real" stuff about Diesel. That's one of the reasons I don't get all the Jim Ross love. He's a horrible commentator and from the AEW stuff I have heard, he has not gotten any better and that he is just happy to get a paycheck. And after listening to his podcast, JR is a bitter old man who isn't as great as he tells everyone he is, ANYWAY It took everything away from the "monster" to hear him called Kevin, one of the wussiest names out there. All the mystique was taken away and Diesel was humanized.

I always thought early 90s WCW was dragged down by JR. Hated listening to him call matches even though some of the stories and wrestlers I found entertaining. When he showed up at Mania 9 I was not happy. Eventually he grew on me but I was never a huge fan of him.

I think JR was best in WWE because he captured the moment great. Like JR’s best commentary was just keeping a level head to Lawlers shenanigans, and when he’d yell BAW GAWD! when something crazy would happen. He added drama which was good, but I think his commentary partner was a big help

LOL. Nash was nothing until he became Diesel, if he was never Diesel he would never have been anything in WCW. If Kevin Nash showed up in WCW without making his name with the WWF, there would be no impact on the business. You really made no sense with your statement.

I liked that they humanized him to an extent. I liked him showing a more cool laid back demeanor, but I could live without hearing where he went to college and what sports he used to play.
IMO the problem with Diesel's run was the lack of big heel contenders. Mable was awful, but they tried. Sid was... Sid. Besides those two, Nash was so big and so dominant, it was hard to book him as a typically WWE baby face. Sure Hogan was big, but he had guys like Bundy, Andre, & Bossman to feud with. Diesel was throwing around HBK like a rag doll.

Bam Bam. 1995 roster way too heavy on babyfaces Also Vince loved Nash...he was gonna beat UT @wm12 until he announced he was leaving.

Heel Bam Bam vs Diesel for the belt at SSlam...What could've been.

Kevin Nash is a great entertainer. I think he had something special with the NWO Wolfpac. It should have stopped there.

Nash in WCW was bigger than he ever was in the WWF.
Totally agree about his WWF Championship Run. He was dead in the water heel wise. There was nobody for him to draw with.

Probably because of the thinned out roster, they wanted to spread out the stars but this didn't give us a lot of great feuds. Heel Bam Bam vs Diesel for the belt at SSlam...What could've been. That definitely would have been much better. They could have done something with HBK and Diesel making fun of him for losing to a football star which would piss Bam Bam off, he attacks both them and the feud is under way.

They could call him Kevin "Diesel" Nash and he still would look like a tough guy. It was the goofy crap like they did with Roman Reigns that made it a failure.

Even though he wasn’t a great in ring worker, it’s definitely understandable how he became a big star in wrestling. He had size, body, charisma, and good mic skills. In ring workrate is not everything.
