I know, and you're preaching to the choir on this, I don't see the need for multiple independent figure companies to keep producing a "Hasbro/Retro" style figure line, but businesses are in competition with one another and frankly, it's the consumers who decide who succeeds or fails in this market for me, I've made my decision to back a number of upcoming Chella figures, I'm keen to see what happens in 2023 in terms of their British Wrestling Legends lineup, I think it would be awesome for a collection of British legends like:
Kendo Nagasaki Marty Jones Rollerball Rocco Dave Taylor Johnny Saint Fit Finlay Steven/Roy Regal
plus a few "newer" talents like ZSJ or Doug Williams (I know he's due a CWF figure but he deserves to be part of this line)
will see, but for me, I can't see ZST ever taking a chance and putting money on building a dedicated series of figures to remember British history

I’d be interested to know how a line like that would go I got into wrestling in the lead up to Summer slam 92 and through to mania 9 we had sky sports when virgin media first come to my area then when we cancelled sports it was just mania etc on sky 1 Saturday mornings and the odd bit of wcw on a Saturday on itv I caught. I have no nostalgia for old British wrestling and looking back now don’t personally find it interesting. When they tried to reboot world of sport a few years back it lasted a couple of episodes I think. I think there could be a very limited market but it would be very niche

I’d love a Nigel McGuinness retro, too! That guy’s been in ROH, TNA, and even WWE (albeit as a commentator).

I think there's definitely a collectors market for it, but it is niche, but I imagine that Chella knew they wouldn't be putting out hundreds of pieces around the world for it, I think it would've likely been a limited run on a small batch. No idea what Wrestling Trader plans to do with it, if anything, they might decide to just include a few of the better known names with upcoming series', rather than have a separate line, but who knows. I think old school fans in their 40's and beyond, as well as hardcore fans from Canada and the States and Europe might be interested in a lot of names like Adrian Street, Dynamite, etc. I definitely think there's a market for it but it's not gonna be huge.

Kendo is a huge want for me.

this is my understanding too - Figure Collections and Wrestling Trader were both working with Chella, and both FC and WT are likely to be open to supporting/working with companies like Rush/Rock n Roll etc in future, yet Zombie himself was open about not wanting to work with a European-based distributor for his line, because (in his own words) it would reduce his profit margin
there is a market, there is clear appetite for both the figure styles and the characters currently announced/signed, but each company is in the game to make a profit, and working with another entity means splitting the profit, which is why ZST won't do it (it's a business, not a charity)
But a % of something is better than a % of nothing There’s a few people out off by exorbitant postage costs. Literally a figure from zst is £40 + £40 postage. Of uk folks could get that for less due to postage it’s work out for everyone Likewise a few people have said they don’t want to pay the cost for some uk exclusives - same scenario flipped Also by working together they could cut development costs and the bottom line - zst said for each figure he produces it costs him $10. Even for shorter runs but still in triple figures that’s expensive ZST's line for me is pretty redundant with the prices I'd have to pay for just one figure. My lack of sales won't affect him, but there's gonna be a lot of people in the same position who won't be bothered spending £80 for one figure. If ZST looked into making his stuff available beyond the US then it's more beneficial to his bank account.

When / where was it shown in 90s? I only watched footage back from YouTube not in 90s. I seem to remember our wrestling coverage being a bit hit and miss I’m general. I’m sure wcw didn’t have a fixed time slot on Saturdays. Sometimes it was in midday, other times evening etc.

I still have VHS tapes of WCW Worldwide which was broadcast during the night on ITV (one had a timeline including Hitman & Her in the lineup so that's from 1992, and another had an episode of something featuring the late great Tony Wilson)
if you had The Wrestling Channel/TWC, classic World of Sport era footage was shown on there from time to time, prior to that, it's been shown on early cable channels like Men & Motors too, but a lot of it is now on YouTube or Vimeo where pretty much anyone can watch it

The wos ring was tiny and really gave it an amateurish look imo

Sometimes it was in midday, other times evening etc. Honestly couldn't tell you what channel, either ITV or Channel 4 or something, it'd be on for about an hour of a weekend morning/afternoon, just old repeats of WoS wrestling. It then went to cable in the mid-late 90's, on one of the Men and Motors (or something like that) channels. I used to watch it when I was younger. It eventually came back on the Wrestling Channel in the mid 2000s.

I definitely remember seeing repeats of WoS in the 90's, usually in the morning. They'd show World of Sport shows basically, sometimes it'd be wrestling , other times it'd be other stuff, I dunno...cycling or something.

Yeah that’s what I remember, the afternoon and then you’d have as you say dinosaurs or I think maybe baywatch at some point? Anyway interesting to see if they do the line and how it goes. Similarly the German company (czw?) and their line of German talent

I'm not confident that Wrestling Trader are gonna stick with the British Legends line idea, but could see them putting out the likes of Street, etc, with their other upcoming series.

I wasn’t sold on the idea if a subline anyway. Better stick to what you have and keep improving the process. A subline with the same concept would most likely not fasten the process.

I really really hope they continue with the world of sport line. I get that maybe it’s pretty niche, but I want a Rollerball Rocco like there’s no tomorrow!

Luna is up for pre order…but is $40. She doesn’t capture that Hasbro look for me. I’m gonna pass at this time.

I have to agree on the look of the figure unfortunately (though I've ordered one as I'm obviously addicted...) - looks like it was designed after the custom Sables that were made a lot in the late 90s from another line (Storm maybe? I remember the figure with long white hair but can't remember from what line it was from) rather than adapting a traditional Hasbro action/pose. Still excited to get a Luna, but doesn't quite work for me. Anyway, latest post from Wrestling Trader: http://instagram.com/p/Cl1zx1CMmoR

I think it’s hard with females because we didn’t have any it’s hard to know what they would’ve looked like - I don’t think we even saw a hasbro female sketch so pure conjecture on if they’d do a new model, try to adapt existing etc.
Personally I’d have stayed away from females for that reason

Easy disagree from me. There have been other customs and sketches out there that have captured female talent in a Hasbro style. You can’t debate that we will never know but the magic of the style can definitely be done. Hell - Chella themselves nailed Bull Nakano other than her height!

I’d like to see some of you know who did them That’s chella was basically the same as the male figures, very broad across the shoulders etc which bull wasn’t.
