I haven't watched weekly since Mania, but I notice a lot of people saying Orton is the best he's ever been, what's he up to these days? To me he's been coasting since evolution.
I watched Ewtreme rules, and I'm making my way through raw now trying to get into covid era WWE

Since he started his program with Edge after the Rumble, he’s been the most motivated I’ve ever seen him since 2014 and those small glimmers like in his feud with Lesnar and feud with Kofi.

I think Orton is one of those workers that is benefiting from the lack of audience. I wonder how all this would have played out with an arena full of people? I don't think he'd get the heat really that the commentators are giving him. Sure he punted a few people but we all know having promos against the Big Show with 10,000 people watching live would fall flat.

He needs to punt himself. Dude is "old" in wrestling years.

Randy Orton has always been good, but when you are like a 13 time WWE Champion I can see how your motivation would start to slack off and get bored with everything. What's there to strive for when you've done it so many times before??
A guy like Randy Orton would have done well in a territory era of pro wrestling. Go around to different places, new feuds, new matches, new titles. He's been a WWE guy ever since 2002. Hell, ever since he started since OVW was the WWE training camp.

I'm not sure if it's the lack of crowd or the writing, but Orton (along with McIntyre, Rollins, and MVP) are all killing it at the moment. Orton just seems more motivated and cold than usual. He has clear direction and he's delivering on it.

I honestly don't see a difference. There is just something about Orton that makes him boring. Back in the day he was full of charisma and never failed to put on great matches. Ever since Legacy split he has been a shell of his former self and he lacks chemistry with most of his opponents.
Having said that I do appreciate Orton. He's one of the last from the RA era and has had one heck of a career.

I just do not see the appeal. He has been phoning it in for at least a decade, but because he has had a half-decent run with Edge for a few months people are willing to look past it. I think Randy Orton looks like a million bucks and the character can be cool, cold and badass, but I would say 99 percent of the time his in ring word falls flat.

From January to now, this is the motivated I've seen him since the Christian feud in 2011. It's a shame he's only been motivated twice in nine years. He's an all-time great, but I'm disappointed that he phoned it in for so many years.

Let's not forget his feud with Jeff either. That was intense stuff and that Cell match they had was one of the best in recent history.
It's true that Orton is great when he can be bothered, but people go on like he's only ever been bothered 2 or 3 times in his career.

To me Randy's biggest issue has always been his chemistry in the ring with other wrestlers. For a guy who's wrestled damn near 20 years in the WWE I can only think of a handful of great feuds and matches in his career. The only talents I think he's had really good matches with in terms of a series off matches and not just one single good one in the group would be against Foley,Edge,Taker & Christian and that's about it.Haven't really been into him since his failed face turn after winning his 1st World Title in '04.But that era of Orton from around '03 when he returned from his arm injury until about '08 or so was his prime in terms of putting in good matches and not just costing. After that baring his feud with Christian in 2011 he's been average to me in terms of his in ring work and effort.Again might get a glimmer of the old motivated Orton every once in the blue moon like his random PPV match up against Luke Harper but their limited and far in between his regular work.

As I said above, Orton has been on fire lately. Maybe his best work in years. And he's usually a weekly highlight. But I don't think I'd have him defeat Drew McIntyre for the title at SummerSlam. As good as Orton has been, Drew has been better. And IMO Drew deserves a longer reign as champion.

I just do not see the appeal. He has been phoning it in for at least a decade He’s been phoning it in pretty much the entire time he’s been wrestling, and he’s still better than everyone else. That’s his gimmick now.
