Curious to hear what you guys think. Who is your most under-rated WWE superstar from 90-96. I'm gonna throw my pick out there and say it's The Mountie for me.

Waylon Mercy. The Bray Wyatt of The New Generation Era. Spivey did such a good job with the character. It's too bad injuries ended his career, because I think the Waylon Mercy character had some real legs, and could have gone somewhere.

I would say EASILY Marty Jannetty for me. He regularly had great, solid matches and is often forgotten or smeared since his partner went on to become one of the greatest in ring performers of all time.
What ISNT said is that Marty wasn’t far off from Shawn in regards to talent, Shawn beat him in charisma for sure, but Marty is a tragic story because his problems outside the ring stifled his success inside the ring. Personally, I feel the behavior problems Michaels had outside the ring weren’t any better than Marty’s and I truly believe a major difference in their success came down to Vince putting up with Michaels, but not putting up with Marty.
HBK did have more charisma though and all in all would have turned out to be the better of the 2 because of that, but I can’t help but think Marty would have amounted to more had he been given the patience Michaels was. His rivalry with HBK is very underrated as well. I loved how they wrestled such a similar style as a Tag Team that when they wrestled each other it was almost like a mirror match.

Still wish he got a run with the IC belt.

Martel is not only one of the more underrated guys from this era, I'll put him up against anyone as one of the top 2 or 3 more underrated wrestlers ever. One of my all time favorites.

I would have loved if Matt Bourne had been around longer in ECW with his Bourne Again character.

Original Doink Rick Martel Marty Jannetty
All good choices so far
I.R.S. too. After he and Ted broke up he pretty much dwindled in the mid card and even lower card near the middle of 1995 before he left the company to go back to WCW
Bam Bam Bigelow too
Yeah, he was in the main event at Wrestlemania 11 but it was to put over an ex football star from the NFL. He never had one WWF Title reign of any kind. Not Tag, not IC, not World. He deserved something better than what he got for his WWF run.

This is a tough one.
You had guys that should’ve been World Champions but never got out of the mid-card: Mr. Perfect, Roddy Piper, Owen Hart, British Bulldog
Then you had guys that never sniffed a solid push, but were excellent workers: Marty Jannetty, The Mountie, etc.

Individually I wouldn't include either guy but I'm going with Power and Glory. Two JTTS types that meshed very well as a tag team. Had a great start consistently going over The Rockers. Great look, great finisher, outfits, manager. The squash to LOD really was the beginning of the end.

Chris should have gone by his real name, been allowed to show what he can do, and he could have been at least IC champion. Thankfully there was ECW for him to go to.

Rick Rude should have had a heavyweight championship run.
Rick Martel should have been IC champ.
Power and Glory were an awesome tag team and should have had a run as champs.
All very underrated.

I feel like at this time Barry Windham was very underrated. Now he had a lot of success but I always felt like he could have been a lot bigger than he was.

I cringe every time I see someone say "_____ should have been world champion"...That title not being bounced around like a rubber biscuit is what made titles so important back in those days. Are guys like Perfect, DiBiase, Piper etc all World Champion material? Absolutely. However if everyone gets the title then it no longer has prestige.

I like your list. I really would have liked to have seen Power & Glory in the Nasty Boys spot, have them defeat the Hart Foundation at WM7 and lose to the Legion of Doom at Summer Slam 91.
