There is few reasons on earth for a promo segment to be 10+ minutes. Promos really shouldn't open the shows. Also I'm starting to hate in-ring promos. Keep it short, keep it backstage, or just off. Sincerely, everyone who watches RAW on HULU.

If they’re done right they can go for 3 hours and be entertaining haha
Like when Vince and Austin did their back and forth, or DX and Hart Foundation. I could listen to that stuff all night. The monotony of the promos today all suck because they’re all written by the same people. Let the professionals go out and talk. On one hand, they want us to believe these are the best performers in the world but on the other they’re telling us all you need to do is go out and remember a script. Let em talk & be creative

Nah, bad promos suck. If it's good you wouldn't even notice that 10 minutes had passed.

Any promo without an audience to work off of isn't a good idea. Keep it backstage or keep it under a couple of minutes. Most workers still do that pause as if there were an audience.

Can’t say I agree. There’s been some promos that have been sooo much better without the audience. You can get a better sense of the acting ability without the audience trying to get themselves over, yelling “What!?!” every 5 seconds.

I dunno, you get more "heated" and "real" promos when they just face the camera and talk, instead of having to stop in between words to play to the crowds.

Depends on who's talking.

Over-long promos by awful/terrible mic workers, with no personality/watchability suck - Bayley being a prime example. If I had my way, this try-hard would never be given the mic again.

IMO promos have been miles better as of late, especially with no crowd. But I do agree some could be shorter. I also wish they'd bring back the old "Mean Gene" interview stage and have someone conduct them from there more often.

I would’t have changed a thing.

The last long promo that hooked me was that RAW that ended with Authority/Foley/Rollins angle leading to WM33. It was like a 35 minute angle. Granted, it had a lot of action apart of it and Foley getting physical again which is always special. But really, the words kept building and building and building to Foley lashing out and Rollins running out to save him. Its really underappreciated and I think one of my favorite moments I remember watching live.

Jon Moxley said it best, the most challenging thing about working for wwe is having to recite what a 74 year old mad man writes for you.

They preach about the brass ring, Cardona grabbed it and they made a fool of him for it. It’s BS...it’s an unobtainable goal where all the success is awarded to them and all the blame goes on you.

And do you remember what happened after "Cardona" grabbed the "brass ring", and was put in the main event/closing angle? He was out of his depth, like a rabbit caught in headlights - which showed he'd always been in the spot he should've been in. He just wasn't a main-event level talent. Don't always blame the "scripted" promos... Punk's most memorable promos were never scripted - and if creative gave him chicken sh*t, he'd turn it into chicken soup... or the "74 year-old mad man". Sometimes, it's solely on the talent not being good enough.

Sometimes, it's solely on the talent not being good enough. I have no idea why Cardona is in quotes lol. It's his legal name not just another ring name. Would be like putting "nash" or "hall" in quotes. anyways, Cardona did say in an interview he kinda blamed himself for just letting it all fall apart and never actually going to Vince and asking what was going on. He still thinks they never really liked him getting that popular but he did put a lot of the responsibility on himself there. Mox I think might be a little more fired up than usual to fire shots since his wife got Corona there when they weren't testing. Maybe it's not related but he was quiet in that sense for a while and now these interviews are coming again 🤷♀️. I'm guessing on that though Punk was still a different era. These guys for the most part can't throw the script out anymore, especially not currently. Nothing's live right now so their hands are literally tied. They can't have fans popping to prove it was a good idea. I agree it is not always the scripted part to blame, sometimes talent just can't connect, but overall I think the tight scripts are used on too many people. Some people really need them but there are a lot more that could make good use of more freedom.

Punk was still a different era. Ah yes. Punk made waves in 2011. A different era to the Zack Ryder thing, which was in... 2011. Their hands are LITERALLY tied? 😆 Well, Braun’s were at Extreme Rules, so there’s that.

This thread also reminded me of the time Jim Cornette talked about how he was able to go out to his garage and make a sandwich and triple h was still cutting a promo on raw. I heard the clip a long time ago obviously but it was pretty funny.
