I think the reason they let Punk do the Pipebomb promo was to convince him to stay.

I think there's never a reason to go 30-40 minutes OR start shows with promos. You can get the point across in less than 5-10 minutes.

I dunno, you get more "heated" and "real" promos when they just face the camera and talk, instead of having to stop in between words to play to the crowds. I'm not saying there shouldn't be any promos. But to make them 12-15 minutes long makes for boring and bad tv. The attention span of most peop….look! Squirrel!!! You get it

This thread also reminded me of the time Jim Cornette talked about how he was able to go out to his garage and make a sandwich and triple h was still cutting a promo on raw. I heard the clip a long time ago obviously but it was pretty funny. Not inaccurate. Jiminy Christmas, I still remember the McMahon/Helmsley Era, where EVERY Raw and Smackdown (hell, sometimes even Heat!) would start off with a 20-25 minute promo from Trips and Screechy Steph... finishing up with "I-uh AM-uh THE-uh GAME-uh!"

I remember an episode of RAW from 2000. It was after HHH got arrested for accidentally hitting Stephanie. They did a 30 min opening segment trying to figure out who called the cops on HHH.

Triple H is awesome, I will stand by that.

Beautiful quote at the end there. I must use that as my new signature moving forward. Thank you.

WWE just pushed generic 10min promos down our throast for 15+ years. I am a big sucker for good promos, but they need to have meaning.

It just depends on who's talking tbh I always enjoyed listening to CM Punk, Chris Jericho and Stone Cole Steve Austin. Those 3 guys I can listen to for hours lol

There is few reasons on earth for a promo segment to be 10+ minutes. Promos really shouldn't open the shows. Also I'm starting to hate in-ring promos. Keep it short, keep it backstage, or just off. Sincerely, everyone who watches RAW on HULU. Whatever happened to the limousine rolling up in the backstage to start the show off and a quick interview to keep us intrigued in the show?

If the promo is going to elevate a feud for the audience to put more investment in, and it can be done in a way that elevates both wrestlers, I think they are good. You want something that takes you from "entertained" to "fully invested" so that you enjoy what you are watching and crave more. Problem after is for any promo beyond that must follow a similar pattern, or be very short and captivating. Nothing worse than a great promo to be followed up by the opponent pissing it away.

So... I’m not the only one that doesn’t enjoy a 14 minute HHH promo?
