This really does not feel like a SummerSlam. I think Drew Vs Orton is a wonderful main event, though!
I have hated Braun Vs Fiend this whole time. Would have rather seen Braun or Fiend Vs Sheamus/AJ/Riddle/Hardy/Big E.
Can't wait to see the new venue!

Where will this card rank against other SummerSlam lineups?

I am looking forward to Drew vs Orton, mostly because I think both guys are firing on all cylinders. But as I said in the RAW thread, I'm not sure they've done enough to make this feud feel personal. Sure Orton attacked HBK & Flair, but he's done next to nothing to Drew. And until this week, we didn't know Drew was close with either one of them.
So that being said, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get a clear cut winner here. And they drag this out for a bit longer.

Where will this card rank against other SummerSlam lineups? Well last year's had the much awaited debut of the Fiend, and this year's has him fighting Bulky Dialtone. Last year's US title match was AJ styles with his Bullet Club brethren against Ricochet, this years has Apollo Crews (well deserved) against MVP for what is beginning to feel like the current groundhog day angle. (In b4 "that's called a feud". No...). That about sums up my thoughts on the men's side lol. The women's side is actually really good. Asuka wrestling twice means two Asuka matches, and Sonya and Mandy have worked really hard and deserve a nice PPV match for what's been a very long story between them. So, on the women's side I think it's a home run. On the Men's side I think it's a freaking train wreck. It's been a while since Summerslam has felt like the Summerslam we grew up with, but that I think is more the result of trying to do a freaking PPV every single bloody month than anything else. Even every 2 months would be scarce enough to make them feel special again I think.

Where will this card rank against other SummerSlam lineups? Worst five IMO. Does not feel like SummerSlam to me. Its missing a ton of star power and important matches.

I have a sneaky suspicion that Tang/JD will not enjoy Summerslam. Controversial i know.
I have more interest in this years show than last, Orton vs Kofi was too predictable, Seth vs Lesnar was stale, zero interest in Becky vs Natayla, Golderg vs Ziggler was a 2 min squash, same as Bray vs Balor. Trish vs Charlotte was pretty good though but the rest of the card i have no memory of.

I actually thought about flying out to Toronto for last years since it was actually in Canada and I could catch the takeover too. I'm kicking myself for not going just for the takeover, but yeah the SS itself was not special. As much as I kinda just crapped on the men's card for this one, I think overall it is a better card than last year.

Gotta love judging a show before it airs.

Gotta love judging a show before it airs. Why would the thread exist so far out if not to talk about the event and speculate?

I'd think there is a rather large area in between speculating on the show and s****ing on it before it actually happens. But apparently that's just me, so knock yourselves out.

Not trying to be rude, just asking. I think it'd be disingenuous of people to pretend they're excited for matches they aren't. Personally I think the US title match is a huge downgrade from last year., even though I am quite happy for Apollo. Braun is someone I legitimately can't stand in ring or outside of the ring, so I can't pretend I'm even remotely excited to see him in a title picture. On the flipside, I think the women's card is a significant upgrade from last years. Some people have been very vocal that they absolutely can't stand the Sasha/Bayley storyline. That's cool too. I agree there is a large area between, but I don't agree that this thread has just been people dropping excrement on a show before it happens. Most of this thread was speculating on the venue, with general excitement, and then an honest question about where the card ranks. Summerslam historically has been one of the biggest shows and is a marquee event. It's a fair (and good, imo) question, and people answered pretty fairly. Would you prefer we/they all lie and say they're super excited for every single match? There was literally only 1 post that was entirely negative about it. Every other one had a mix of positives and negatives.

Not a lot of memes either....

Way too many no DQ oriented matches. Feels like a TNA Pay-Per-View. And thatβs not a good thing. Thatβs... a bad thing.

If you want Asuka to win both titles tonight, you're banned from the Summerfest.

If you want Asuka to win both titles tonight, you're banned from the Summerfest. Best case scenario; Asuka and Banks both walk out with titles.

Not too excited for tonight as said previously it just doesnβt have a summerslam level feel.
No Lesnar, no Bryan, no Reigns (for obvious reasons for all 3) but guys like AJ, Hardy, Cesaro, Nakamura, Lashley, Riddle arenβt on the card? No IC title match?
Instead we get a bunch of matches that feel like Raw filler.
Personal hopes are that Orton wins, Wyatt wins, and they make some major headway in a reveal of sorts with this Retribution storyline.
I also think somehow Rollins/Dominik will surprisingly steal the show much like Cole/McAfee from last night.
