Hangman is the most interesting character in wrestling and I know I’m probably biased but I can’t think of anyone that’s character progression has been so good I feel like if people think that segment was over dramatic or poorly done, they haven't had a lot of alcoholics in their lives, because that was relatable as f*** and spot on in terms of character work. Legit lumps in my throat off that one. No. Addiction has colored my life, and those around me. Hangman was poorly directed, but I did enjoy the understated reaction to the argument, and I get what you're saying in that sense. I think it was more about the mirror, and the lack of camera time building up to the interference. He's been the highlight of AEW for me. This is not his fault. It was poorly done. Matt Jackson's acting was awful, too. I think this is a case of bad decisions. If this were the taped show, it probably would have come across better. Another problem with today's wrestling is the fans are too smart, and have started to decide what they would like to see, rather than enjoy what is presented. I always try to avoid that, and in the long run, AEW has typically delivered. I expect this to be no different. Even the most successful people in the world make huge errors, all the time. There was just a lot in one show, I think.

They do have a history of having a LOT of trouble with timing on live shows during this pandemic. Wasn't so bad when every episode was live and they got in a rhythm, but with this live on-off again thing, they've done a lot better at keeping things flowing well when they do the taped versions. Tony does have a definite flaw of always trying to cram just one too many things into each episode. I know they wanted to cram everything into the first live crowd tonight, but probably should've shelved like one skit or something. 5 minutes extra would have made a huge difference on timing across the board.

Yes, Dynamite has been nothing if not indulgent during the pandemic.

Really felt like Dynamite tonight was a bit off on a lot of the production.

Really felt like Dynamite tonight was a bit off on a lot of the production. There were moments where it felt like the camera guys were WAY out of place. Like they wanted to switch angles, but couldn’t because there was no shot on the action. OC running in is the prime example.

^ I forget what match it was, but I remember seeing a camera guy sprinting along ringside to get into position. I got a chuckle.

Really felt like Dynamite tonight was a bit off on a lot of the production. This always bothers me about AEW. We hear the names involved in production and how they've been around since TNA, WCW and even some JCP. How do they miss so many shots?? If you can't do the NJPW Okada zoom out in time, stop using it for the Best Friends hug(s) also. Thankfully, there's not as many cuts as Kevin Dunn uses. Another thing I really dislike is those damn entrance tunnels. As a person who watched years of TNA back in the day, seeing those tunnels just makes me compare AEW to TNA and I hate doing that, cause then I have to admit.. damn, TNA has had better overall rosters and their production was actually better. Eeeekk.. The motion graphics AEW uses, aren't even custom made. You can find the template pack, for use with Adobe After Effects, on many free/paid template sites. Eww.. hire better graphic people if the ones you have are going to use free resources.

I can say 3 things: The crowd singing Judas gave me goosebumps, like others said. Just felt normal for a sec. The mention of 4 of the most fun hardcore icons of all time, Sandman, New Jack, Zandig, and Onita....I popped hard. Here's to hoping people look into them that are new to hardcore. Ahh...if only I could relive the first time I had seen these guys wrestle and fight. I am jelly. I popped hard for OC popping Jericho like some wild banshee. This man aint no sloth! Well, until he is again Dichotamy. VPV

Absolutely loved the Onita mention. Also, seemed odd after a recent Twitter exchange I had..

Man, I felt hangman in that segment. Heel turn by the bucks in my eyes. If you can't understand that alcoholism is a disease, gtfo and come @ me. It's a no chill issue with me, so no trolling. Bucks are the enemies in the story I'm watching. Hangman's trapped and needs help and they're continuing to push him away. What a great f***ing story and they're telling it so goddamn well. Alcohol is a disease brought on and maintained by yourself. People are allowed to be disappointed in your decisions, especially when they result in you letting others down all the time. You're hurting them. People won't and shouldn't continue to put up with that. That doesn't make them bad people. Also, did no one realize the women's match was supposed to be bad? Like complaining that it was a bad women's match, yes, the whole effing joke is that Reba/Rebel can't wrestle so she's a fish out of water. They did a great job of showcasing exactly that. They did a great job of intentionally putting on a bad match instead of utilizing their talent and giving us a stronger show. If your story line includes you being a garbage wrestler who puts on garbage matches in a division that already looks like it's recorded in slow motion, I think it's safe to say there are better angles to run with.

Vince's ability to run seamless production for a few decades really makes AEW look 2nd rate at times. Total amateur moments that would shock the sh*t out of you if you were watching Raw and saw them.

I mentioned this earlier in the thread but I didn't see anyone get back to me. This is the video of the MJF - Moxley contract signing. At 3:40 Mox signs the contract and MJF and his lawyer start laughing their ass off because they added something to the contract and he didn't read it.
Mox mentions the part about page 17 that he added that that THEY didn't read and the MJF camp completely falls apart because his lawyer has to wrestle Mox. And that was it.
They didn't go back to whatever it was MJF added that had them all cheering and laughing at Mox because he signed it and didn't read it. They were happier than a pig in sh*t that they just got Mox to sign something, and then dropped it completely a minute later.

^^ I think they were just laughing because they thought he was an idiot for letting them ban the paradigm shift.

^^ I think they were just laughing because they thought he was an idiot for letting them ban the paradigm shift. I thought the same thing at first, but why were they acting like so elated? It's Jon Moxley. Of course he was going to sign it. Does anyone really think a guy like Mox cares if he can't use his finisher? The way over the top reaction was the type you'd see in wrestling from someone who slid something else into the contract. Even the "lawyer" was acting like Jon should have a lawyer look things over before the signs them. I thought they wanted him to sign the contract banning the Paradigm Shift knowing he would without hesitation, but then added something like "he also has to wrestle in handcuffs" or "Wardlow is the referee." THAT would have warranted their reaction. And then I was expecting Jon's "addition" to be he's wrestling the lawyer, and if the lawyer doesn't show up or if he loses, all of MJF's clauses are negated. If you guys are right (I think you are) then they just wanted the visual of the MJF's expressions to go from the penthouse to outhouse. I don't know why he would have been on cloud 9 like that though? The pieces didn't seem to fit together here.

Either you're over thinking it, or we'll find out that there was something MJF added next week after the Silver Balls match. Regardless, the reason I don't see this as a huge deal (and why Mox will retain) is because Moxley has made the majority of his opponents in title matches pass out. He'll do the same to MJF, THEN give him the Paradigm Shift after the match.

It was definitely one of my favorite episodes. Someone on Reddit pointed this out:
In the hangman scene he poured two beers for ftr and the either didn't show 😭, or maybe just came after the scene was over.

Could they have been "apology" beers for the Bucks but they went in hot and didn't give him a chance?
