I kinda skimmed through both Raw and SmackDown, but I don't remember seeing anything with Retribution. Did I miss it, or are they dropping it already or something?

Same. That’s why ABA Taker was always my favorite gimmick of his Anyone who doesn't think ABA is the best version of Undertaker is a pervert. That wasn't The Undertaker. He was just some dude riding a motorcycle to the ring. Not only that, he was awful during the invasion era. The mist, the bells, the dark entrance, that's The Undertaker.

I like that they didn't attack on SD. Makes it feel less predictable.

Cesaro was a Paul Heyman guy once. C has ass tons more talent that Reigns has,and we all know how that turned out. We'll see if Vince's chubby for Roman leads him and Paul on a different path than the one Heyman and Cesaro went down. Because Roman is a certified top talent name. He’s been main eventing for years. You stick Heyman with someone who is already a big name and magic happens. You stick him with a mid carder who isn’t going past mid card, like Cesaro or Axel or Ryback, and he’s essentially Heenan with lower level Heenan Family members.

I mean, I'll gladly go on record and say that Roman has a ton of talent, and there's a reason the locker room tends to speak really highly of him. Reason why Jericho said he'd be one of his top 5 people he'd want to come over, etc, etc. That said, Cesaro is one of the most talented guys in that company as well, and being seen as a 'midcard' talent is far below Cesaro's talent level.

Cesaro is an insanely talented worker but he is mid card for life. Might get a shot at a World Title on a PPV but he won’t ever be one on the main event talents sadly. Honestly, though it’s hard for most to admit, Cesaro will always thrive best as a tag guy.

Oh I 100% agree it's where he's gonna stay, I'm just saying his talent level in the ring is well above Midcard level. I wish WWE took its tag division more seriously because there he is a main event talent and has the credentials within the company to show it. For whatever reason they insist on treating tag titles as inferior and he stays a 'Midcard'.

Midcard shouldn’t be seen as a bad thing. Mr Perfect didn’t do well when they tried him at main event level, and he spent most of his career as a memorable midcarder. In modern wrestling, the midcard is much less memorable than it was pre-Nitro, but it’s the right spot for a performer like Cesaro. He’s never going to draw money, but he can have a reliably solid match with the guys that do. Pretty decent episode of SmackDown for me, just for the Reigns/Heyman thing and Sami Zayn. Sami has returned looking worse than ever, and it fits his character perfectly. The real IC champ story is a nice nod to Michaels vs Razor as well, and I liked Cesaro and Nakamura brushing him off. I’m enjoying the Big E singles run, although the match was skippable (as were pretty much all of the matches on the show).

Perhaps when I say things like "I wish he wasn't seen as a midcard guy" what I'm really saying is "I wish mid-card guys were valued for how great they really can be". To some extent, Cesaro is the ultimate gate-keeper, and not in a bad way. He can pull a great match out of pretty much anybody, make the stars look better, etc, etc.

Thing is though.... When Shawn Michaels was on the Rockers with Jannetty... I didn't see him as a complete singles main event World Champion... at least not in the way it turned out.... Same when I watched Brett Hart, Jeff Hardy and Edge... It wasn't until they won really that I actually bought into them...Before that, I just thought of them as really good wrestlers...

Thing is all of them were early to mid 30s when they won the big one. Their tag careers were all during their 20s. Cesaro hits 40 this year. Very few win their first world title in their 40s.
