Kayfabe speaking, it still amazes me all these years later how much Sid got shafted at the Rumble. Tosses Hogan out but does he leave? NOOOO!!!! He has to pull on his arm to help eliminate em. How was Hogan still a babyface after this??!!The crowed cheering his elimination still puts a smile on my face though Yeah, how the WWF office thought that Hogan would look good doing that still baffles me. I think the only reason people didn't turn on Hogan was the company did a good job selling that Sid snuck up behind him and eliminated him, kind of in a "cowardly" way. I think they also played up that they were good friends so a good friend wouldn't do that (what Sid did). They really tried to paint Sid as the villain after the Rumble. Then they officially turned Sid on SNME, after that, people seemed to not care and kind of liked that Hogan did what he did.' Plus, had Hogan not helped eliminate Sid, your guy Flair wouldn't have been champion...That wouldn't be fair...

How was Hogan still a babyface after this??!!The crowed cheering his elimination still puts a smile on my face though Hogan had become a lot more heelish by '91. He and Slaughter had all of those Desert Storm matches where he matched Slaughter's dirty tactics step for step. He straight-up cheated to win at This Tuesday in Texas. I'm only theorizing here, but I'm guessing Hogan had heard the boo birds getting louder by that point, and he was trying to be edgier as he sensed that wrestling fans were changing in their expectations. Pulling Sid out of the Rumble might have been the most heel move that he made in that period, and I've often wondered if the steroid scandal hadn't happened, would Vince have had the courage to eventually turn Hulk full heel? If so, it would have been memorable.

Even if Sid had won, I can't imagine him sticking around long term. Assuming he'd have stayed on until SummerSlam and dropped the title there, I'm not sure what would have happened next. Sid wouldn't been gone with Warrior and Davey Boy at the latest. It's hard to imagine that era having the WWF title vacated twice in the same year, but I can't see Warrior losing the belt to anyone before leaving. So I guess Survivor Series 1992 would have had a tournament to crown a new champion, which Bret would win... But then if they did a tournament in late 1992, would they have done another one so soon in June 1993? Maybe King of the Ring wouldn't have happened.

Could you have Hogan win by Dq at Mania over Sid, Warrior makes the save
Have Warrior vs Sid at Summerslam, have Warrior go over

I think had Sid won he probably would have defended against and probably lost to Flair at that Wrestlemania, personally.
They'd have probably continued with Hogan vs. Taker through Mania, Hogan finally going over Taker clean for his big sendoff in the main event. Then Warrior making the save after Shango/Taker beat him down.
Sid would have gone on record as a champ for a couple months but not a whole lot else would have changed except Savage loses his run.

Would Warrior make an apperance?
How long would Flair hold the belt for?

If Sid wins the RR I see him defending against Flair & retaining @ WM8. I see Vince giving him the big push....& Flair was the only pedigree heel on the roster. Undertaker was nowhere near ready to Main Event WM.
Sid winning throws up lots of questions...but what you do with Hogan & Warrior is chief amongst them. for me Sid winning wouldn't have been good for WWF. what we got wasnt the desired result but it was better than Sid winning.
With Vince being under pressure about Roids? I see it ending in disaster.

Probably until he drops to Bret later in the year. I would imagine Sid leaving not long after Mania 8, with Flair defending against Warrior at Summerslam. I don't think Vince would be that concerned about him and Hogan going one more at Mania.

I dont see Vince having the confidence in a Sid vs UT main Event..

Man I love Flair's Rumble win but Hogan vs Flair at Mania 8 should've happened, they could've just had Sid win and defend against Taker and Hogan v. Flair as the double main event.

Honestly I think we're avoiding the giant pink elephant in the room. The Rumble for the title was done specifically to get Flair over with the NY crowd. They werent going to let Flair go 60 mins with Hogan or Taker so this is was WWFs way of showing everyone what he could do from in NWA days.
That being said if Sid were to win the Rumble it WOULD NOT have been for the WWF Title. Flair would have taken the title from Hogan/Taker in Nov/Dec and then Sid would have won the Rumble and defeated Flair for the Title at Wrestlemania. We still get our babyface walking out as champion and Vince has his Hogan replacement until he was to return next year.
