My Son's 7 years old. For Christmas last year "Father Christmas" 😉 got him a LOAD of basics to boost his collection. In the last year or so he's discovered elites, ultimates etc and basics aren't going to cut it this year 😭 Poor old Father Christmas and his flimsy wallet

I don't mind the basics as I don't really buy them. However they are useful sometimes if one comes with a much better headscan. It's cheaper to buy a basic for £8 as opposed to £20 for an elite if all I'm interested in is the head to improve an elite I already have.
Without basics our women's collections would be vastly diminished too. How long do you think we'd be waiting for a Tegan Nox or Dakota Kai in the elite line?

Some basics are better than elites. Most are worried about articulation but don’t even play with their toys. I don’t get the logic or hype.

Because these are actually toys made for kids. Careful you’ll have the “these are collectibles not toys” brigade upset For the record your right, but they don’t like to hear it

Male basics need the ball jointed hips the female basics have. Even Hasbro's $10 kiddy lines for Power Rangers & Marvel are starting to incorporate hips that can swing out instead of these archaic t-joints from the mid 90s. Wrestling figures need to be able to do a sitout powerbomb at the bare minimum.

According to Dave Meltzer the demo for kids aged 5-11 watching WWE is really low. Basics are almost a niche line at this point.

They're something that kids can beat the hell out of without having to worry too much about how much money they're annihilating.

Some recent basics are really decent. 111 Bray and 110 Liv come to mind.

Because they sell. It makes money for Mattel. Why would they get rid of a line that has been consistently successful for 10 years?

I'd just like to know why they've almost completely wiped out Flashbacks from the basic and battle pack lines? I get that they're for kids, but certain characters will sell (and be bought by parents) just because they look cool, plus many of us adult collectors might be more likely to buy them.

Yes I prefer elites but sometimes you need basics to open up spots for superstars that may not fit into elite series.

It does seem lite lately though the basics are coming with better quality and better looking headscans than the elites are.

Basics sell really well with kids. Not every parent is willing to spend $20+ on an action figure. I don’t collect basics myself anymore but I understand their place.

For the people who can’t afford to buy elites, or want to keep their children happy. Not everyone could keep up with elites. It also keeps the lines afloat, if we only had elites then regardless they’d have to go up in price to make up with the lack of money being lost from basics. The lines that aren’t catered to us help with the budget. The only thing I dislike is when they started to remove articulation from the basics. For me they were good to buy spare parts to change onto elites. Now they’re practically useless in my eyes besides a headswap.

I hate that we have to see this kind of post about once every 7 weeks and you will see it again in another 7 weeks and another after that 🤔 I'm going to make one in 5 weeks. Seriously though I do think if they fixed the articulation in the legs they wouldn't be so bad. As they are now even for playing with they are not good with only leg swivel

Because collectors are more likely to buy lines with elite+ articulation. Plus every time they made a cool attire as a basic (like blue Rated R Edge for example) everyone here gets upset because it’s not an elite or better

Just bought the b110 Balor today. If it’s a wrestler I like I don’t care if it’s a basic/elite/UE...they are all displayed the same way on my shelves.
