When he was top of the card I was at an age where I didn't really notice how bad he was. I just seen a believable, terrifying monster. Sometimes that's all you need. I actually remember thinking wow, cool when he won the title, bit in hindsight I was just a stupid kid and yes, he was really bad. He never looked comfortable in the ring but he was an opposing, intimidating dude and I guess that's what WWE was all about at the time.

I agreed with him at his world champion. I also think him and Hornswoggle should have got a run as tag champs in 2012. He probably overstayed his welcome in WWE by a year though. He was done for in 2013. When Cesaro swung him that time, that should have been him written off TV for good.

I don’t think he was as bad as everybody makes him out to be. For me personally though, he wasn’t versatile enough to be entertaining. I need more to be invested in then just the guy being huge.

Khali as the dominating monster when he was first introduced was of no interest to me.
Khali as a goofy mid card comedy act is a guilty pleasure of mine.

All I can say here is, I was 10 when he debuted - and I bought into him as this giant monster, because Taker sold so well for him. Then, as I started to get older, I saw him for what he truly was - an atrocious wrestler.
But sometimes, in this crazy world of "sports entertainment", you don't need to be having 5* matches every night - if you have a presence, and people buy into it (and I know for a fact that me and my friends did), you're a star.

Khali was an awful wrestler, but he was a star. He was over with the crowd and I always remember him getting good reactions from the fans. I remember being at a live event and the audience popped hard when his music hit. Truthfull the Punjabi Playboy gimmick was the making of him. He didn't work as a main event monster heel, but fitted in pretty well in the mid card with his comedy character
He will always be remembered.

Can somebody please post the video of him singing happy birthday to John Cena? I would do it myself but I’m posting this from my phone.

I would probably say he was not that bad until his "playboy" gimmick and face turn. The thing about Khali was his size and how much of a monster he was. He was the guy that made any opponent an immediate underdog. He doesn't have the connection, charisma or mic skills to be one of those 'friendly giant' type that Show, Andre, Braun and others were able to pull of. Khali from 2006-2008, I thought, was a really believable as a good act and he had some cool stuff in there. I loved him Vs Cena, him Vs Taker/Triple H was OK, and I personally liked seeing him face Batista and Rey.

How dare any of you speak bad of our almighty Lord The Great Khali. Only praise for Big Dalip, absolute icon! Just to show how great he is, here he is taking the time to pose for a picture with a fan. Absolute professional!

I never saw him wrestle but the comparison to Giant Gonzalez gives me the picture. Gonzalez was not good. I like the big guys but not if they can’t move well

Everytime Khali took a bump, it felt like he was already taking years off his career from just that.
I would say yeah, he was.

Yes he was THAT bad.
I now have a soft spot for him though. Last month for my birthday my friends randomly got me a Cameo from Khali as a gift. Not sure if they over estimated how I felt about him, certainly I never enjoyed him as a wrestler, but I wouldn’t put him on a list of wrestlers I wouldn’t want a Cameo birthday message from. If they wanted me to dislike it they’d have done like Rusev or Jinder instead. It was unexpected and hilarious and I really enjoyed it.
