So do you think Paul Heyman is best manager of all time?
If not, then who would you pick as the best?

No Heenan is best in my book
Sherri Elizabeth Hart All better than Heyman
Heyman commands too much of the gimmick. The one common denominator I know of was Rick Rude, and Heenan is just better

Not even close. Heenan is far and away better than Heyman any day of the week.

Might be able to squeeze top 5 but no way is he #1. Guys like Bobby Heenan and Jimmy Hart were just as big if not bigger than the stars they managed. Heyman has never been able to get to that level.

Not even close. Heenan is #1 for sure - then you've got Blassie, Sherri, Jimmy Hart, Gary Hart, Paul Bearer etc. to go in there too. Heyman is overrated as . Yes, he's good on the mic - but that doesn't make you a good manager by default.

I think Paul Heyman thinks Bobby the Brain Heenan is the best manager ever.

Overall I’d say Heenan, but the first manager that came to mind was Miss Elizabeth.
In the modern era, I’d put Gedo in NJPW in the top spot.
Plus, Heyman isn’t a manager. He’s an advocate. 😉

Heyman is nowhere near the best. He's great with guys who are already good (Lesnar, Punk, Reigns) - essentially, he adds to the overall package when it's a guy who is already top tier talent.
But when he's managing someone who isn't great (Cesaro, Axel, Ryback), he doesn't have the ability to elevate them.

Been saying a version of this for a long time. What is a manager's primary job? To get his/her guy over. Heyman is one of those guys whose reputation and perception does not fit his reality. He is an C- manager At Best. The manager's job is to get their people over. Who has Heyman ever gotten over? Brock. That's it. That's the entire list. Look at the rest of the guys he's managed. Reigns: Was already over. (Whether the 'smart' folks like to admit it or not) CM Punk: Was already over & did not need a mouthpiece. Curtis Axel: Failure. Ryback: Failure Cesaro: Failure Big Show: Was already over. And then everyone wants to bring up the Dangerous Alliance. So let's look at it. Arn Anderson: Was already over because he was a Horseman Bobby Eaton: Was already over thanks to Jim Cornette Rick Rude: Was already over thanks to Bobby Heenan & the WWF machine Larry Zbyszko: Failure. Larry's time was passing at this point, so I don't think he was getting any more over in any case, & he is clearly the forgotten man of the DA. Steve Austin: Failure. People love to give Heyman credit for Austin, but the DA was short lived. Austin was as over as he would ever be in WCW due to the Hollywood Blondes era and his multiple TV titles. As skilled as he was in the ring, he hadn't found his personality, and his short stint with Heyman sure did not bring it out of him. Austin was so important at the time WCW let him walk. He went to ECW and cut a bunch of promos and then was the flippin' Ringmaster. Original Midnight Express: Failure. Paul got himself over in this feud, but as much as I thought the angle with Cornette/Lane/Eaton was fun, the OME did not get over at all. They lost the feud and vanished into the night. Then there is ECW. It was such a success that he had to get secret subsidies from the WWF to stay afloat. Paul was good at talking rabbits into lions dens, convincing guys to stick with him when there was nothing good in it for them at the end. I don't give him credit for being a good con man. As for the greatest manager ever? Heenan and Cornette top my list as an interchangeable 1 and 1A

Outside of wrestling he may be, as he was able to be trusted by a guy who trusts no one in Brock Lesnar. And will most likely never screw him, like he has screwed others, as Lesnar would most likely kill him and get away with it. So, non kayfabe/real life reasoning he may be. Jimmy Hart is a far away second.

Personally, Heenan would be number one with everyone else coming in distant places behind.
I think an argument could be made for Cornette or Heyman at number two though. One could say that all comes down to simply taste. I'd put Jimmy Hart directly under them I think. Only because Jimmy's best stuff by far was Memphis, and the majority of his career was after that, and a step down. No fault of his own, he just went from a top focus in Memphis, to more of a midcard manager.
For my tastes, The Sinister Minister is one of my all time favorites. But his ringside work was not up to the caliber of the other three I mentioned. I just loved the gimmicks, promos, and skits.

Heyman could sell you the clothes off your own back with his mic skills.
But greatest manager ever? Nah.

Heenan and Corny ftw. I'd say Heyman has clearly been the best manager of the past 20 years or so though. At least if we're talking the big "main" promotions.
