Has anyone had issues with their loose figures simply just... breaking? I found a bag of some old Jakks figures from probably 13-14 years ago. Upon turning the arms, most just broke. Lol. Not even like they were stored bad or roughly played with.

I ran into this problem - Had a bin of RAs in storage for maybe 8-10 years - took them out a few weekends ago and almost every arm or leg joint is loose
I know for sure back when I played with them, they weren't that loose
TTLs all held up though.

The reason is the engineering in how the arms were inserted into the sockets. TTLs I believe had more plastic in the torso surrounding the arm plugs. RAs only had a socket with 2 thin sections housing the disc-shaped plug on either side in the torso. If one would break (hard, brittle plastic), it would become loose and prone to falling out. It was extremely cheap and resulted in a lot of arms breaking or loosening over time, through light play for me. Not even being rough with them. They were such a joke.

Old loose Toy Biz Marvel legends. So much articulation points warped, frozen or simply snapped off in my hand.

This worries me as I have a large collection of Ruthless Aggression figures in storage! I have heard that Jakks RA figures don't age very well (the most common issue being the 'sticky' plastic clothing) but the idea of arms breaking etc is concerning.

I've had loose joints on certain Classic Superstars figures and I've found plumbers tape (ptfe tape) wrapped around the joints helps matters (in my experience anyway)...strange how some are fine and some aren't

Do you leave it on and cover with knee and elbow pads?

To add to the conversation here, I've opened a few Jakks the last year that have been bought MOC and I've not had the problem of joints being loose or anything like that. Could it be a temperature thing? If they're stored away loose it could be melting a bit of the plastic leading them to snapping?

I don’t know about the ones I packed away, but the ones I still have displayed are fine.

The arms on the RAs used to break after a period of being played with I remember.

Sorry I've just seen this, I put the tape around the gap between the shoulder and the chest part of the figure and tuck the tape into the chest cavity (if that makes sense). It makes the arms tighter, I saw it done with Star Wars figures on YouTube and thought I'd try it on the Jakks I had. As far as arm and knee joints I've never put tape on those. Although someone on here mentioned using a drop of super glue on ankle joints and running the joint under a tap whilst moving the joint which also worked for me as some of the figures wouldn't stand properly.

Anytime I take a Jakks classic or RA out of safe storage and adjust the rotator cuff so that the deltoid is displayed properly the arm snaps right off.

It should be noted that the RA figures having the two slits of plastic in the shoulder joints was a change made around 2006. Scared me away from collecting after my ECW Series 1 Punk broke and my CS 3 Pack Piper and Orndorff had loose arms out of the box.

Thinking about it, none of my Jakks WWE figures have ever broken.

I still have a lot of mine from when i collected. None have broken, and they have been in storage.
it may be a temperature thing
