Sorry just a rant here but this board should really not post anything about scalpers anymore. Just tried to do a deal with a member and again about 4 in a row now where I ask the price and they want even more than I can it for on ebay. Everyone is selling for over retail whenever they can just part of the game of collecting.

I never understand that. I get people can ask what they want, but who is paying over eBay prices? It’s so easy to use and offers more buyer protection (too much sometimes). I’m in Facebook groups that do this too. In other hobbies sellers typically undercut eBay. Do people really pay these crazy fig prices here when they can get cheaper on eBay?

Typically means they don’t want to sell it. But if the price is right then it’s gone
I don’t really buy and sell much but happened to me the other day.
I found a Cobra Trooper from GI Joe line, wasn’t planning on selling it but guy offered $70 shipped for something I literally just paid $20 for. Sold
I’ve found a lot of people are Just high in their prices, just move on and be patient, more times than not you’ll get what you’re looking for, for a fair price

This probably should be in the classified boards since no one buys and sells in the Mattel boards. That being said, there’s no rule about asking whatever you want for a figure in your possession. If you don’t like the price then make a counter offer or decline.

You can't police what people can ask of the possessions they're selling. If they're cheaper on ebay then just go on ebay.

When I sold off a bunch of my collection via Fb, I mostly looked at what stuff was selling for on eBay and then undercut it a fair bit (which still worked out about the same for me because I wasn’t getting hit with theBay fees) and then took more off for multi buy deals.

Missing the point here. I know people can ask what they want and I know just get it on ebay if cheaper. Point is that this board complains constantly about after market prices but once you go to PM everyone deals in after market prices. Why complain when u all doing the same thing when u can?

Nah, I will dump on scalpers any chance I can and want to. Part of the game for them too.
I'll never understand people who dream of becoming their very own Walmart. I have a guy in my area who, when E77 hit, went from store to store buying up entire stocks. F that guy.
Selling a single figure here and there above retail is entirely different to me. It's when it's great numbers of current in-store stock that it drives me nuts, especially when I think about the kids/parenrs who might be looking for them.

So here is an idea. WOOOOOOIf someone is blatantly trying to sell stuff in the classifieds at scalper/ebay prices. How about the option to report them like a bad trader. Then they can have the "possible scalper" underneath the persons profile. That might help weed out some more of the riff raff that come here to try to pull this crap. |

There seems like a very simple solution. Just dont buy what they're selling if you feel they're scalping. I have a local comic and card shop I LOVE, been going there for years, but I refuse to buy anything there I know they bought up at retail just to sell at twice the retail price.

Is this any worse then people wasting your time offering 50 dollars for a 10 yr old rsc exclusive. Then saying you know how much the retail I can get it for cheaper. Then you say go head buy it cheaper then. Oh wait you cant find a ten yr old rsc exclusive at retail.
