Jakks made Bruiser Brody and he wasn't smiling.
This Hillbilly Jim figure looks like this because he is missing his cloth overalls.

I'd love to know where people get the idea that Jakks made Rey figures that were taller than guys like Brock (which is basically the body they used for Brody and even Hillbilly Jim here). Scale was a major issue with Jakks figures to be sure but I had a bunch of Jakks Rey figures and none of them were as tall or taller than any Brock or Undertaker or Hogan or anyone like that in my collection.

Agreed - I fully appreciate everyone is entitled to their opinion but I do think Jakks gets run down too often on these threads. We each can point to areas where the product could have been improved or a shortcut was taken but I believe Jakks revolutionised the wrestling figure business, producing an evolving product (BCAs - TTL - R3 - RA) and an array of characters we could only have dreamed of. I'm one who will always defend Jakks (although the Royal Rumble Mark Henry should have cost someone their job!)

Jakks has moments where the quality got better (real scan, post series 1 Classic) but for the most part they cut every corner they could. As a seller of wrestling items, the Jakks are very hard to sell now that Mattel has put out a far superior product. Anyone who thinks their Jakks are worth a lot of money and it's more than I'm willing to pay, I will cite what I just said about Mattel. It's sad but true because I don't mind buying them but not at a huge percentage more than what they are worth. I remember as a kid having to go back to the store time after time to buy replacement series 1 1996 figures because the arms would fall off. I feel like the BBB step in and should allow anyone who bought Jakks figures to a Mattel replacement figure on Jakks' dime.

Have you looked at what some of the CS figures go for? That line in particular has seen a resurgence in the last couple of years. Hell, even the BCA line is seeing a surge in popularity thanks in large part to the Major WF Pod.

Hell, even the BCA line is seeing a surge in popularity thanks in large part to the Major WF Pod. The Jakks I've sold have not gone for a lot of money, including signed ones. I've been listing Jakks Classic for months on ebay and my prices are below normal auction site sold listings and with best offer and they still sit as BINs. I had a guy wanting to sell 30 BCA Jakks and a few TTL types recently and he wanted $450. When I did sold listing searches I saw that if I even offered him $300 I would at best break even PRE auction site fees. I told him what I do believe, once Mattel came out with a better product fans starting looking to them as opposed to Jakks. Jakks was 10-25 years after Hasbro, Remco and LJN and they didn't put out that much better of a product and what Remco lacked in different bodies or facial likeness they more than made up for in clothing. Jakks took years to do the real clothing. They had the cheap plastic vests for a long time and that was the only clothing accessory.

Jakks took years to do the real clothing. They had the cheap plastic vests for a long time and that was the only clothing accessory. Jakks started with the WWF license barely two years after the Hasbro line ended, seven years after the LJN line ended and nine years after Remco AWA ended. Jakks, and I can also say this about Mattel WWE too, put out a lot of really indefensible sh*t, like some all-time terrible figures, but they also put out some of my favorite figures of all time. They also created the playbook that Mattel has used for the last decade, right down to the Basic (RA) and Elite (DA) articulation and integrating legends into the line. If we don't get that Ruthless Aggression run the way we did and the Classic Superstars line the way we did, the Mattel line as we know it would be vastly different than what we have now.

Hahaha, there's some hardcore revisionist history going on here. It's amazing what a downward couple of final years can do to a collective memory.

I wish Matt Cardona and Brian Myers wouldve showed up at my house in Long Island to buy my BCAs so I didnt have to throw them out when I moved.

Hahaha, there's some hardcore revisionist history going on here. It's amazing what a downward couple of final years can do to a collective memory. For real. People have passed down this narrative that Jakks was always terrible and that we had Rey figures the size of Big Show and that literally never happened. It's also amazing how different the reaction to bad figures coming out is compared to the Jakks era. During the RA/CS era, people would regularly want Jeremy put in front of the firing squad for stuff like Chinese New Year or the NWA Hawk/LOD 2000 Animal with the promise of doing NWA Animal later and never getting to it but if Mattel puts out a Bret Hart in ing orange or they can't do one head sculpt that even kind of looks like him after 10 years, people defend it. It's so weird to me. There was a point, like 2007-2008, where Jakks had figures in almost every scale imaginable (2", 3.75", 6", 7", 12" 16") and also had a McFarlane Sportspicks style line and had a variety of stars from a variety of eras coming out in several of those scales. They're literally the only wrestling figure company ever to do that, and most of the figures during that era were good, if not great. People really let how hard Jakks went down the crapper in late 2008-2009 rewrite how good the previous few years before that were. They went further to cover general wrestling history than Mattel have, too.
