Thanks as of now he’s back in the rehab hospital two blocks away from our house. He’s been there since Monday and will be coming back home next week on the 24th if he keeps improving like he’s been. The doctor can’t believe the improvement he’s made over the last week. Although he’s still not out of the woods because as quick as he’s improved he could falter again. But it does seem promising.

So he’s been back in the hospital since the day after Thanksgiving for the same issues. And yesterday they transferred him to a rehab hospital, but they called this morning saying they were sending him back to the hospital because he tested positive for COVID this morning.

PJ, I am very sorry to hear about the struggle you and your family is going through. I was happy to read that there was improvement and then devastated after your last post. Thoughts and prayers during this time.

Very sad to see this thread - especially as it seems this was going on at around the same time as my mother was dying in slightly similar circumstances: she suffered a stroke on October 13th but then 8 days later I was being told there was no longer any hope of a recovery. She was then taken-off life support, and she hung-on for 5 days before passing on October 26th. Towards the end, I was wishing for her to go as I know she would’ve absolutely hated to hang-on like that. In a way that may have helped me in the grieving process, but I also fear that I might not yet have started to deal with it.
I send you all my best wishes, and hope for the miracle that my mother was sadly denied, especially with covid now being involved.

So the COVID medication they were giving him isn’t working. So they are taking him off it and are going to start giving him morphine for the pain he’s in. So it looks like this will be the end within the next few days.

The hospital just called and told my mother-in-law if she wants to say her goodbyes to come in this morning because he is dying and I guess they don’t think he’ll last the day.

He just passed away about 5 minutes ago. The nurse called as my wife and mother-in-law pulled into our driveway.
