Might be one for Steve and co but just thought I’d throw it out there. There’s lots of figures that people have missed out on for various reasons and I know you can never capture them all but I think we know there are some real big wants that many of us have in common, such as Harley (in fact that whole series) and various others. Elite 12/HOC Kane, some of the Hall of fame (Diesel for me), Old school legends (Akeem, Bulldog, others). Obviously if they’re not under a deal then they’re off the table but I’m guessing the majority are and Mattel essentially have them to hand but it’s tough for them to find a spot in new series coming out. Do we think there could be a new sales channel for mattel to try and have a separate dedicated ‘Throw back’ or ‘back catalog’ series where they put up assorted sets/waves of these major wants in a series for a ‘pre-order’ or ‘funded’ sale. They could have their own ‘Back catalog’ branding/packaging so they distinguish from the originals for those who have MOC originals and want to protect value. It would help get them out sooner and get more of the guys we want out there before deals expire and we lose the chance and without affecting new regular waves. I’m plucking figures out the air here but they could say if the sets get 5,000 pre orders they get released. If they get to 10,000 orders they get an updated scan with true effects (where possible) something like that? Feels like it has legs to me...surely there would be enough interest? If not, Mattel don’t lose and can just go back to figuring out how to squeeze the odd re-releases in at some stage in the regular lines and us collectors just have to wait longer. Thoughts? This will make the gatekeeper collectors unhappy

I don’t hate rereleases, especially since some people only have a few variations of ring gear, but I will always prefer new attires even if I don’t own the original, because then I can buy the new one and maybe get the old one some day and then I have two figures instead of one. This is more of a thing for someone like Randy Savage than King Kong Bundy obviously.
So I like when they do repaints in the main line but stuff like E69 Rock is annoying. All they had to do was change the deco on his trunks, he’s got plenty of them you can still do.
I think that rereleases in the main lines should try to be changed in some way to be a little different from the original and would not hate straight rereleases if they didn’t take up spots for new figures. Maybe they could make a vaulted series like Star Wars black series and make it exclusive to Amazon or something

I don’t care, but how many times do they need to release attitude era Kane before people are happy/figure it out? There’s e12, HoC, the WM31 elite with inverted color, the Undertaker RSE that works as a double sleeved Kane, the basic of that, the basic of the invert. Does there need to be one in every series until people start complaining that he warming like AJ styles figures or whatever?
It’s not that big of a deal to spend $45-50 on a figure of its the only one you’ve been missing. Now if you need everything rereleased, then probably find another hobby, idk...

I think Kane and Diesel could be done in the UE line, while guys like Harley, Akeem, Martel, Demolition, etc. would be perfect for the Legends line (with slight changes to attire, to differentiate from original release).

Not trying to be a jerk because I already have all the original figs, but I'm just not a fan of straight-up rereleases. Am all for different/new attires of all of those guys. Let's see an NWA Harley Race with a robe. Give us a Texas Tornado in his Hasbro attire, not his first Mattel attire. I'm cool with stuff like that. Plus I think that approach is way more of a win-win for Mattel; then you've got people like me who have the originals looking to buy the new attires instead of going after a smaller market just wanting the original looks.
Plus it was just depressing to see how the Lost Legends rerelease set killed the value of those original figs. Not from a reseller perspective or anything, but a figure like Warrior Legends 6 should always feel special/of value, not be stuck hanging on the pegs forever and ever.

Other than the flashback Harley Race, the only re-release I would want that I can think of would be the RR91 Macho King. This time I would add the jacket, correct sunglasses, and have the pink color on the headband and wrist gauntlets. I would also add two torsos, one with the molded shirt and one without. Or just have a removable shirt. Maybe multiple heads with different expressions. I wouldn't be opposed to a head with a molded cowboy hat and glasses, and a head with a molded bandana. For the Harley Race figure, I wouldn't change much, the figure was damn near perfect. I would just make the cape a soft goods cape. If possible, I would have the top portion (white part) still molded plastic to keep the correct shape but, the purple cape with be cloth so you can mimic his stance below:
