The Sliver DiBiase is what I’ll be buying. Mattel has done a phenomenal job here. They spent a considerable amount of time, effort, energy to say nothing of money to get as many details as they have. It’s a crying shame they didn’t go over it one more time to get them all. I mean you get one shot. Still the the collar and the lapels are different colours is something they could have got right as is the pockets, The gold paint is there for them on the black versions. 
Good to see I am not the only one who is is not happy about the missing pockets- I already touched on this in another thread. The black suit has painted on pockets while the silver suit doesn't have any at all. Cost cutting has really done a number on this line, its a shame because Bill designs great figures IMO but the budget constraints he has to work under are finally starting to show. I don't understand why they could not mold on the side pockets- how much extra would that cost?! Also, aside from cost cutting, the main reason there are no pockets is because this is a reused part- its the vest that was used on the Virgil figure, its not even a suit jacket to begin with. Take a look at the following proto pic that was just released:
There is a HUGE gap on the side that just looks terrible IMO. Correct me if I am wrong but don't they have a molded elite style suit jacket part that they could have used here instead of a vest?! The opening should be the same size as the arm, this is at least twice the size which is also why they painted the side of the torso black so it doesn't stand out even more. Still debating whether to pick this up, the painted on pockets were one thing but the re-painted vest with the huge gap on the side is a much bigger deal to me and is turning me off purchasing this.

That explains a good deal. Yes, there is another jacket they could have used.  I don’t know why big corporations start complaining to us about the costs. Ultimately we the customers and bearing them out, not only on what these cost in a store but also the exuberant prices charged on the secondary market by those looking to turn a profit by calling these rare. These aren’t rare, Mattel made millions of the things. As I said, I’ll buy it anyway because it’ll finish my collection. Everyone that “won” Winged Eagle looking as close as possible to when they won it.  |

Can somebody explain to me why Mattel continues to make Ted Dibiase a red head?

That jacket won't work because its a basic figure mold (also the lapels are too small), they do however have an elite figure mold they could use and I am puzzled as to why they didn't?! The Gorilla Monsoon figure came with a jacket that works and it comes with molded pockets! Once again we have another instance of perplexing parts choices from Mattel- add my voice to the list of many others on here who have complained about incorrect parts choices for figures where better parts actually exist and don't need to be created from scratch. It would be nice to get an answer from MDT about why they use the parts they use but that will never happen.
Interestingly, based on the quick bit of research I did, Monsoon is the only suited legends figure among those that have been released in the last couple years or so that has the suit jacket with the pockets. The rest (Gene Okerlund, Howard Finkel, JJ Dillon, E70 McMahon, Legends 9 Warrior) all come with a pocket less style jacket.

omg I didn't even realize the suit/vest they used had such a wide gap under the armpits and that's pretty shady to paint some of the torso black to conceal it. That confirms it, I'm sticking with my custom suit Dibiase.

Can somebody explain to me why Mattel continues to make Ted Dibiase a red head? I can not. Ted looks to me like a black haired man with the ends bleached blonde. No where near red head. |

I’m not sure about Ted, It’s a pretty good idea. |
