I had a rant off in the Jazwares section and figured I would ask the AEW fans here what do they actually think of AEW Young Bucks [NOT BC ERA YB]. I loved them in NJPW when they had the 2 sweet me, the old BTE vlogs, etc. (I even have 2 BC shirts, 2 Elite shirts, and a BC Hoodie!) Since AEW started though, I really dont enjoy Matt. I like Nicks in ring work but Matt is terrible imo. He is literally Superman as Jim Cornette would say or Buck Hogan, the dude takes insane punishment and then just goes on a crazy super unbelievable comeback every time. Matt is terrible on the mic and all of the backstage segments with the YB are CRINGE. [BTE & Dynamite] I understand they are one of the main draws [Debatable], but man have I gone from a huge YB supporter to I just dont want to see them anymore. [On BTE or Dynamite] I enjoyed watching Brian Cage vs Will Hobbs more than any YB match I can even think of in AEW. (I cant even remember any thats how many memorable matches they had) I enjoyed watching Brandon Cutler vs Peter Avalon than any YB match in AEW. I enjoyed watching Kenny Omega vs Sonny Kiss more than any YB match in AEW. To close, I really dont enjoy their matches that much and I HATE HATE HATE anything they do out of the ring. IDK what happened in AEW, but man they suck. Some could make the same argument for Kenny Omega as well, but I love his new intro and seems like hes getting it together now that hes a singles guy again. I think that the weird build with FTR was the last straw for me, I feel like FTR is getting the short end of the stick having to play 2nd to the YB when they are the damn champs! Every since FTR joined, anything I seen with the YB was just not good. Am I in the minority here? Vote above, let me know.
When I actually enjoyed the YB.
Leave them alone good brother Alex, they dont need anymore tv time.

I still like them but they feel directionless. This whole feud with FTR has been booked weird from the start. I don’t know if they’re heels or faces or what they are. It’s been very confusing since they lost that tag match because of Hangman

I don't think they've been used perfectly, but overall they've established themselves for what they bring to the table. the last few months of AEW has been a bit flimsy at times, but this is a brand new promotion and they're trying different things out. I far prefer that to recycling the same old angles.
so while I think there's elements of their character portrayals that are straight up goofy, I think they're a great act and deliver.
hearing that they're staunch Republican Christian right wingers is a bit off putting, but politics and wrestling rarely mix well.

I mean...they were in the tag team match of the year.
They haven't been booked perfectly, but it's pretty obvious they're attempting to get other teams over right now to build stars.

I'm not a huge fan personally. They come across that there better than they think they are.

Much like Kenny Omega, their promo work is not great, but their in ring storytelling ability is through the roof. The recent build up to FTR has been a bit of a flop, but I'm still partially convinced a lot of this is finishing up pandemic catch-up now that some fans are back, to get them back on pace for where they wanted to be.
When many people criticize flippy-floppy spot-fest wrestlers, they can be targeting the Bucks, but anyone who really watches the Bucks can see they tell a hell of a story in the ring.
So basically, do I want a 10 minute MJF style segment to showcase their talking ability? Hell no, they are best when they're just wrestling. They can do all the talking they need in the ring. I for the most part have preferred the AEW bucks to Bullet Club or PWG bucks character wise. Having to take the endless "suck its" out of their repertoire fixed my one annoyance with them.

As a conflicted fan who really struggles to "get in" to wrestling as an adult, the Young Bucks give me the feeling that I'm 4-15, again. Their in-ring work is as good as any tag team that has ever existed (if not better), and they find a unique way to make their matches have a dramatic feel every time, despite repetition of a moveset, ala Ric Flair and Bret Hart.
They've also changed wrestling, forever, for the better. I can't say enough good things about the Bucks.
To be fair, Matt is poor in promos, and they I find a lot of their team promos and skits to be poor. It'll never happen, but Jim Cornette would be their perfect manager.

It sounds to me like you were a fan of the Bullet Club aesthetic, who's finally been given the chance to see the major players on a regular basis, and it hasn't lived up to what you'd come to expect.

I really liked them in PWG (completely bypassed the Bullet Club thing) but they were easier to get behind as goofy underdogs in a small time promotion than they are at the top of a global company. Their look. Their attitudes. They're natural hustlers and upstarts, and it doesn't sit well with the almost veteran presentation they've given themselves. It's not un-earned, it's just... odd.
I think Cody is the only one of the core group who presented himself correctly in the first year. He talked. He did stories. He put on strong matches that felt important. He put his best foot forward. Meanwhile the Bucks (and Omega) hung back, shared the spotlight, and... Meh. We're told they're a great team, but I haven't seen it in AEW. A few fun throwaway TV matches and injury angles? They had one excellent match, and the focus was on Adam Page.
I actually really like Matt Jackson on BTE. His personality fits a wacky YouTube show more than anything serious.

Like bro be baby faces and be loved, why do you have to outbadass the heels which have TULLY and the belts. Come on.

Yeah I guess so. I feel like I thought they were better than they are. I feel honestly like they are the 2016? Roman Reigns of AEW, I feel that strongly about them at this point. If they get the belts then it’s 100% confirmed

I actually really like Matt Jackson on BTE. His personality fits a wacky YouTube show more than anything serious. He’s so bad, I feel like even he doesn’t believe it but he’s trying to make you believe it but it’s so bad it shows. Like a bad dancer that’s trying their hardest. It’s really bad, even Brandon Cutler improved since BTE. Kenny is also pretty bad also tbh, but I believe him a teeny bit more. I’m all about immersion, and Matt can’t do it apparently

In ring, I've enjoyed their AEW work far more than anything I've seen previously. I feel like they've adjusted their style, and while it's still choreographed and a bit too flippy at times, I feel like they work more paced matches.
From a booking standpoint, I think the pandemic really hurt their stories maybe as much as anyone. When blood & guts fell apart, I feel like the Bucks sort of just drifted until the FTR story took shape. And that hasn't been a home run by any stretch. I get that they were trying to make other talent at first. But I feel like as a tag team they needed gold to really get established. A singles worker can be money without a belt (Piper, Jake Roberts, MJF, etc), but I feel like that's much much much harder for a tag to achieve. In trying to elevate other acts, they never really established themselves.

I've been a fan for quite some time, and through constantly saw people crapping on him that he's boring, etc. I feel like he's really come into his own in AEW, and you can see that element of being a guy who can be a legit draw. I think the Bucks could be booked better, but I don't have any strong negative feelings. But I also don't watch BTE, so maybe they're better in small doses. There's just too much actual wrestling that I want to watch, both past and present, to have the time to dedicate to a Youtube show.

I only see BTE because the wife was obsessed with it for a few months. Definitely filled in some gaps. Made me appreciate certain guys who I didn't like (Page, SCU) and come to despise others. I cant stand Kenny Omega now. His blustering stuttering attempts at improv annoy me to no end. A goof with a broom.
I dont know how I would have booked these guys better. My instinct is always to rewind the clock and redo what got them over the first time, but the live aew crowd is so in-the-know. If AEW had started with a strong heavyweight heel team to hold the titles, perhaps the underdog cant-win-the-big-one story would work. As opposed to only not being on top through happenstance and flukes.

Not a fan of The Young Bucks, their style, their no selling, their piss poor psychology, their promos, their characters, or how they come across even outside the ring.
These opinions do not reflect wrestling figs.com, it's owners, or it's members. They are my opinions and mine alone, and damn do I think The Young Bucks suck.

The Young Bucks pre AEW were awesome but AEW era are the shits, they don't know if their are heels or faces. Just pick a ing side. This FTR feud has come out to be weird but hope the match is awesome at Full Gear.

Well thanks for the feedback, I feel better about Talking ish on them now in the jazwares section since they are supposedly getting another set in series 3 of them. It’s confirmed, AEW YBs need to be jobbers.
