Apologies in advance if this should be in the Classics board but today marks the 15 year death anniversary of one of the greats; Eddie Guerrero.
We never got to see the original tribute video played in the US in the UK but the “Here Without You” tribute they did for him was amazing:
So to keep this thread from being such a downer, what are some of your favourite Eddie Guerrero moments?
Mine were:
- Los Guerrero’s skits - parking lot brawl - winning the WWE title - seeing him live at the first SmackDown! UK taping driving a Mini Cooper instead of Low Rider - Eddie/Benoit/Holly vs Puder in Royal Rumble 2005 - “I’m Your Papi!”
(I haven’t mentioned any WCW or pre-2001 stuff because I didn’t see it live)
Show share your memories and show love for “Latino Heat!”

Man, that tribute video NEVER gets old. One of the best.
Such a great man gone far to soon. Wish he were still around today to pass his knowledge of the business on to today generation and contribute to entertain us fans.
His feud with Rey leading to the ladder match at summer slam was one that really hooked me. His promos then were outstanding.
And nothing beats the pop when he beat Brock for the title.
Long live Latino Heat!! viva la raza

I mean it sincerely when I say I think about him absolutely every single time I watch wrestling. He was honestly so unique, talented and charismatic and the void he left hasn't been filled yet. He and HBK are tied for my favourite of all time.

Unfortunately I really never appreciated Eddie at the time like I do now. I was only a wrestling fan for 3 years when he passed, and during that time I just never liked him for whatever reason. I was finally only coming around to him during that 2005 heel run and storyline with Batista.
Looking back on it now, the WWE Championship win against Brock is a top moment. At the time I was mad and couldn’t believe it, as Brock was my #1 guy. The “lie, cheat, and steal” moments were always fun, especially faking being hit by chairs all the time. The embrace with Benoit at WM20.

The match against Brock is one of the all time greats. Seeing it when I was younger, it was just magic. Rewatching it today I can't help get caught up in the emotion all over again.

I remember clear as day, going on WWE.com and seeing the graphic "Eddie Guerrero 1967-2005". I thought it was a joke - SVR '06 had just come out and there was a storyline in that with Eddie and Taker, so I just thought it was a feud they were going to do on TV (Hey, I was only 10 at the time) and my brother had to explain to me that Eddie really had died.
I got into wrestling in '98 when I was 4, but didn't become a regular watcher until about '03. Eddie very quickly became a favourite of mine - his feud with Big Show over the U.S. title is the first sort of memory I have of him.
I remember when he became No. 1 contender for the WWE title - and I'll admit, I still thought WWE was real at this point - I thought there was no possible way he could beat Brock. When he did, I remember just sitting there in shock. After that, he was pretty much my hero - even when he was feuding with Rey in '05.
When he got the shot against Batista - I really hoped he was going to win the title, but I guess it wasn't meant to be.
R.I.P. Eddie, thanks for the memories.

Didn’t start watching until WrestleMania 21 when the Friday before everyone in my class was talking about
I made my parents order it and the opening match was Rey vs Eddie. I had never watched wrestling so I didn’t know who to root for but I was instantly drawn more to Rey.
I always was and I sadly had only 7 months to become aquatinted with Eddie but my little kid brain was too busy soaking up Rey as he was the face.
When Eddie became heel I did love his theme though lol I know how great he is but I have trouble looking at old footage of him as it makes me sad.
I still remember reading the article and calling over my mom to help me understand it because it said he was “survived by” so I thought he was alive until the she explained the wording and everything properly and that he didn’t actually survive 😞

I remember hearing about this in work...I was stunned. I really liked Eddie but I'm still sore that bull story with Rey & Dom was his swan song.
I loved his feud with JBL and his Los Guerreros run. His match with JBL @ Judgment Day 2004 with JBL is one of my faves...absolute bloodbath but christ it was dramatic. man oh man.
Loved his stuff with RVD in 2002 as well.

Eddie is undoubtably one of the best ever. I started watching regularly in February 2000 so the Radicalz had just come on the scene but I remember one of the first storylines that stuck with me and had me keeping my eye on Eddie was his storyline with Chyna. I remember how charismatic and likeable (and unlikeable) he was throughout that time. He was such an entertaining character and wrestler that proved to be a solid upper-mid card hand in the early 2000's. I was naive to think that was his only place in WWE.
Seeing him rise the ranks from where he was in 2000 to seeing him winning the WWE Championship from Brock Lesnar in 2004 was almost surreal. It was one of those moments that stayed true to the "anything can happen in WWE" saying. Up until that point I always thought guys like Eddie had a ceiling over them that they wouldn't be able to break through so when he won the title it felt like a changing of the guard so to speak. I was so disappointed when his reign was cut short a few months later.
When Eddie was slated to take on Batista for the World Championship shortly before his death I remember having such a distinct feeling that Eddie was going to win the title again. Then as a lot of other fans discovered on WWE.com, Eddie had passed away. I can't say I was necessarily devastated since it's difficult for me to feel that level anguish over a TV personality I've never met (to each their own on how people process this kind of event), but I do remember feeling shocked and sad that he would no longer be around. Then I watched the Raw tribute and that's really when it sunk in. Seeing his family, friends, and colleagues share their memories was tough. Especially when Stephanie McMahon more or less confirmed Eddie was going to win back the World Championship.
I remember both tribute shows being really sad but really entertaining, seeing dream matches like Rey Mysterio vs. Shawn Michaels. For those two nights all storylines were put aside and the primary focus was paying tribute to Eddie with some really great matches in his honour. To this day it seems WWE is still looking for a Hispanic talent on-par with Eddie Guerrero, but I think at this point it's clear there will have only ever been one Latino Heat.

While not my top ten favorite but upper their I still truly think in terms of and all around performer nobody was better. In my eyes the greatest of all time when it comes to pro wrestling.Could wrestle any style you want, crowd loved him as a heel or face, could play any role you wanted from a goofy character to a down right psychopath and you still bought in.Their other wrestlers who come close but Eddie is and was the GOAT.

I loved his Lie Cheat Steal gimmick. That was the most fun I had watching Eddie. If it was loosening his boots to get out of an ankle lock, or hitting the chair on the mat to get a win over Mr. Kennedy. Great Times!!

One of the best overall pro wrestlers of all time , and I’d say that whether or not he passed prematurely.
He could make you laugh, cry , feel any empotion on the mic , one of the best mic workers ever and was one of the best technical wrestlers ever, possibly the best technician out of Mexico
