Yeah so at this point it doesn’t even seem like they’re trying to do proper height scaling, Moxley is a damn giant no matter what anyone says (I’ve seen it in person now, that figure is huge), and Riho looks Amazonian

Geesh Riho is too tall as well? I was disappointed with Moxley's height and glad I passed on Dustin.

Ok, from what I've gathered looking at all my figures and the pictures I've seen.
It isn't only the scale within the line that's the atrocity, because, let's face it, Mattel has huge issues with this itself.
It's the fact that, for a line that promised to be in proportion with Mattel... it ain't.
I've heard talk of the Dustin figure being about as tall as a Mattel 'Taker figure. Dustin is tall, mind you. But even going by billed height, Undertaker has a good 5 inches on Dustin... which, btw, is the same billed height difference between him and Cody. By their own logic, Dustin should be as small against the Deadman as Cody is to him. But then that would make Cody practically Marko Stunt sized by any reasonable size scale!
I mean, I guess they can say they DID make it in the Mattel scale in a way - just like Mattel, they can't decide how the heck they want to scale things.
Neither company has this ish down yet. Sure, I'm more than happy to rail on Jazwares for making Dustin as tall as the Undertaker. But I'm not going to pretend that Mattel hasn't put out multiple Ricochets that stand over 6 foot tall.

Series 3 looked like it might be good in scale in the major pod unboxing video

They don’t want people to pass on them because they already have Mattel versions. I think they chose a similar scale, but still different enough that you’ll buy their just like Mattel did with Jakks.

Google search Undertaker & Goldust. They're pretty close in height. Not justifying the entire lines scale, but that instance isn't the best example. I'm more upset with some wrestlers being too short.

I can't remember if it was Magic or Jeremy, but they did say that the line was designed to be in scale with Mattel. But it's a different company, different designer, and different parts library. Expecting exact scale isn't realistic. And Mattel's own adherence to scale hasn't been perfect in recent history. But I think the idea is that the lines are close enough that your average collector could display them together, or kids could play with the figures interchangeably. This group here may be a little more particular than the average buyer, and I'm including myself in that former group. I don't think the WWE figures will play a huge role in sales one way or the other. I can't think of any looks, besides maybe FTR/The Revival, who have a similar look in AEW to their Mattel figures. And for every person who passes on PAC because they already have a Neville figure, there is going to be somebody else who buys it simply because they prefer torso articulation to the ab crunch. In the end, it's a wash. I think we can see that in Dustin being the first figure to sell out on RSC when they restocked last month, or PAC selling out before Darby in S3.

Keep in mind Dustin is also Probably the short packed figure of series 2 as any case with a chase Dustin is the figure that isn’t included so RSE may not have had as many Dustin on hand also with Dustin being in the Blood Brothers Jazware May have circumvented potentially having Dustin be a peg warmer by producing a certain percentage of his planned figure to be made s the Blood Brothers version

In real height, Dustin and Taker aren’t *that* fat from each other. (not the best photo)

They did talk about making them about the same size as WWE figures. They even termed is “Fight Scale” and part of the reason they changed the scale on the UFC figures. The idea is you might not buy AEW figures if they’re totally different to the figures you’ve possibly been collecting for a decade already. If they’re in similar scale, you may buy and mix. I also remember pics from Toy Fair of the AEW figures next to an Elite Hurricane to show the scale.

Riho looks fine next to the Bucks I think it's Greg Mitchell, the brand manager (same role AFA has for Mattel). When they had the problems with S1, new line, COVID, live and learn. But we're 3 series in and the studio shots really don't do the figures any favors.

The figures themselves have some issues, but the initial photos looking terrible only for the in-hand product looking a ton better seems to be a running feature of the AEW line now.
