Did anybody else here get a notice that ebay will no longer be using Paypal for payments soon and to link your bank account to your ebay account in order to receive payments for sales?

Yep, both organizations have been going down hill. A lot of finger pointer has led to a split. You do not want eBay t have access to your bank account especially if you’re a seller.

I haven't used PayPal for eBay since the split. It makes it a lot easier for purchases

I am seller and I have no problems with the new managed payments other than difficulty in giving partial refunds if more shipping was paid. Or doing a media mail payment and ebay does not allow for it in certain categories even though it is true media mail. Pay pal would allow for the option. Other than that no big difference. You still get your money. Possibly an issue is no payments come through to your pay account so it drains your account quick if you are buying shipping labels. You either have to replenish your pay pal from the bank account. There is a way to do it another way on ebay but I only just am learning about it.

This gives me a little trepidation If you want to be a seller online and don't have your own website set up to take credit card payments, ebay is the only way to go. You will starve trying to sell on facebook or social media in general. I have done it on facebook for a few months now putting on a lot of items that have been sitting on BINs on ebay and you will get 10-20 messages a day wasting your time because only 1 or 2 people a week will actually come through on purchasing your item and it is usually very low prices.

I sold full time on facebook live auctions for 2 years. averaged 2K a weekend. *I did have an actual brick and mortar store at the time

Managed payments have been terrible and have essentially caused me to lose a grand the last month. I was forced to register for managed payments in June and now with everyone paying by credit card not paypal it's been a series of buyers getting the item mint and factory sealed only to weeks later do a chargeback with there credit card company and tip for others if this happens and they list the reason as item not as described in the listing ebay will do ZERO! to help you and you are not covered under seller protection. even when proving without a doubt that the buyer has made false claims and is a known thief who does this to other sellers they say it's out of ebay's hands and only the credit card company can make decisions leaving you in limbo for up to 75 days or longer. the credit card company sided with the buyer and i was charged a $20 dollar fee for losing the dispute and they took the money from all recent sells to cover what they said was them having to pay back the buyer which left me to pay shipping on all those items still. the buyer is not required to return the item either. i've been a seller for over 15 years and this is my full time job an i've never had a worse experience. i literally had to file a police report with there local police department and have had to retain a lawyer to look into suing for damages. ebay is a joke

Managed payments are rolling out across the U.K. now. Good thing for those sellers who actually do it as a business as it’ll reduce the snide sellers who claim benefits at the same time. The state can access their bank accounts and will definitely ask questions when they see hundreds of pounds going through but they claim to be unemployed.

I've never done the auctions but I do marketplace and though I have sold quite a few items that are unsellable on ebay (large items that I can't ship, local sports teams and some medium items that may have a higher shipping cost attached) it just seems like it's a lot tougher to deal on there. I probably waste 3 hours a week answering questions for people who will not purchase the items.
