One of the things that always made the Booker T loss worse for me was the documentary “The Mania Behind WrestleMania” they aired right before WM20 the next year. It basically followed the performers before, during, and after WM19. It broke kayfabe and back then it was cool to see considering they still tried to protect it to a bit (unlike today’s “reality era”).
In it, Hunter talks about Booker not being ready for the main event and that he has things to work on but can see him getting there someday...
B****, Booker’s been in the business longer than you. The guy earned his stripes after years of crap in WCW, and even more so during the terrible Invasion storyline. He was a proven top guy before Vince ruined his credibility yet still remained over with the fans. But I guess it wasn’t enough to burry Booker in a terrible feud and match, but you also had to crap on him as a performer too like he was some newbie to the business.

I have to say I am so tired of hearing that Booker T was buried by Triple H at WM. I’m sorry he was in the main event at WM. But Booker was buried the moment he walked out onto a WWE stage and the Rock did his “Who are you” gimmick on him followed by Austin in the grocery store. And that was all Vince making sure everyone knew the WWE was superior to WCW. Plus even with all that Booker had a great wwe career. And I enjoyed the so called “ Triple H Reign of Terror” it was the best part of wrestling during that timeframe.

Steiner had horrible matches. But the Royal Rumble 03 build up was really really good. So true. I remember the video for No Way Out 03 specifically which recounted the entire feud. This was the era where every PPV had a kickass theme song. Dave Sahadi and the team were on fire with the video packages. I remember loving the one for Steiner vs Test that year even though the feud sucked monkeys. The value of good video package does so well. It would get you so pumped up.

Vs Steiner @ NWO Vs Nash, HBK, and Booker @ Backlash Vs Nash @ Bad Blood SummerSlam EC Vs Goldberg @ Unforgiven Vs Goldberg at Survivor Series Each of those video packages still stand up today as some of the WWE’s best ever.

I was a huge Alex Wright fan as a kid. He was destined to be a bigger star than Terra Ryzing or Jean Paul Levesque or whatever his name was at Starrcade. I bet Jean Paul probably knew it too on that show. Booker is an amazing talent. He got out of the tag team shadow to become a big star in WCW and this wasn't a big fish in a small pond thing either. He was that great. When Booker was first starting to break out, Hunter was leeching off of people like Shawn Michaels, Chyna, 123 Kid and former jobbers Real Double J and Rockabilly. Hunter was so unimportant that two guys who should have been "future endeavored" in mid 1997 were more popular than him in the DX team of 5.
