I know its been brought up here and there but I was thinking about how Mattel wwe figures never have authentic looking suntans. Many stars notably Warrior, Hogan, Savage, Superstar Billy Graham, etc were known for having super dark, unnatural orange tinted tans. Superstars like Mr Perfect, British Bulldog, etc were also known for bronzed tans that looked like cooked turkeys. Wondering if those more extreme shades would have been an improvement to the figures or not. It bothers me on Defining Moments Hogan, Mr Perfect....
Or do you think Mattel has made the right paint choices? Sometimes the 80s and early 90s were known for vibrant colors and almost radiating contrasting colors. Hogans dark orange tan contrasted with almost white mustache and hair. Warriors skin was a shade not known to man. Do you wish there was more accuracy in this department or do the current shades make the details of the figure and attire work better?

They would likely get the tones wrong and it look more brown than bronze and then Mattel is accused of being racist.

While I do wish they developed a hot dog skintone for the classic 80s guys, they don't take advantage of the spectrum of skintones they have developed. It's the easiest detail they get wrong, and honestly, they miss the mark on a lot of major stars:
Stone Cold Roman Reigns Drew McIntyre Braun Strowman Brock Lesnar Edge Eddie Guerrero

I still say Hogan should have had the Rikishi/Roman skin tone.

Every Eddie Guerrero figure should be the same skin tone as the Hall of Fame Eddie in the singlet.

Mattel isn't the best with skin tones unless you want Hogan, Warrior or Savage to look black lol
Looking at you APA Farooq and Rocky Johnson elite figures.

It bothers me a bit. They definitely have to be careful to avoid a blackface scandal, but surely they could reflect the tans better. Hasbro did a great job on Hogan’s skintone, at least in his first two or three figures.

Yeah Mattel struggles in this area big time. Funnily enough, I drive hard on this topic in my latest video review I did a day or so back. I talk about Hasbro Hogan 2 and series 8 Bret and how glorious the tans are haha

I read this at first as not enough Sultans to which my response would be that we don’t need any

It's not a deal breaker for me, but it does bother me because it's something inaccurate.
I don't know if it would look right if they tried to match Hogan's or Warrior's actual skintones, but I think they could and should go a little darker for tanned wrestlers than they always have.

If we tried to start having Hogans and such to have tans, it'd be a debacle like the old Jakks Layla figure. Fun fact: I didn't watch wrestling in the RA era, and when I started collecting figures, I spent far too long trying to research who the "Other Layla" was... you know, the one Jakks made a figure of. I was 100% convinced there were two Layla's and the Mattel figure and the Jakks figure were of different people.
