Massive signing by AEW,even way past his prime and maybe not even wrestling still is a major name to the older fan base and draw.At 61 probably shouldn't be wrestling at all or in to many matches but I think its a safe bet he wrestle at least one match in AEW in a tag team bout or even one match against Cody or Darby. Hopefully AEW uses Sting much better then WWE did. They’ll make a killing off him on merchandising alone
Yep that alone is worth signing him up even if he's got a crazy million dollar plus deal a year.The toys & T-Shirts will fly off the shelves and just having one of the biggest legends in pro wrestling history bascially endorsing your new company is a big deal.Him being the manger to Darby or Cody works as well and could be a solid role for him even if AEW is getting a little over the top with the older legends in that role with Tully,Arn,Taz & Jake.

^^ agreed. I totally understand that take but it's like the complete opposite of how I view wrestling. Wrestling has always been a sport with characters to me, not an action movie That's MMA in my opinion. It's a real sport with real competition. Being scripted and predetermined, I think wrestling more resembles movies/comics. If a baseball player goes 5 for 5 with 5 home runs that's all people would be talking about, and pitchers would be iffy on pitching to them next game. That's IF he hits 5 home runs. Because wrestling is scripted you can essentially write a guy "hitting 5 home runs" and make people talk about him and make him credible to his future opponents. It's not a guarantee (nothing is) but it's definitely a proven formula in this industry. |
