Has any one else noticed this?
It looks like it has started with the Hogan/Fiend series. The packaging isn't as thick. The best way to tell is to take an older UE and Hogan/Fiend and look at them from the side. The packaging definitely has smaller dimensions. Also, the red cardboard inside use to be thick enough to stand on its own. Now it's like flimsy paper. I guess they did this to reduce costs.
This isn't so much as a complaint as much as it is a general observation. However, I am a little disappointed because I was hoping the packaging would stay consistent for the life of the line. Oh well.
I LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU

EDIT: Confirmed by Steve in the Q&A thread. Sigh. Hopefully that’s the last of the changes.
I love you.

You need an expert on thickness you say?
Have to find someone else...

Unfortunately I ripped open my Hollywood after noticing because I was more concerned about the figure itself. However, I did take a measurement of the side that was left where I noticed the discrepancy (the character art on the left side). The height of the package on the old ones aka the smallest dimension was 2.75 inches. The Hogan/Fiend packaging seems to have a height of 2.5 inches. It may not seem like much, but it is more noticeable in person. And the red flimsy paper vs the old cardboard is definitely noticeable. I love you.

I really hope not. I’ve just asked Steve in the thread to confirm. A real shame for MOC collectors.

It is the first wave for 2020. A package change was due.

It is the first wave for 2020. A package change was due. But that’s the thing. This is not a traditional package change for aesthetics. It’s literally the same packaging except with a marginally thinner profile and flimsier material. It’s not meant to be noticed. And I completely disagree about this line needing a real packaging change. They should keep it consistent. The packaging is/was perfect and there is/was no reason to mess with it. I love you.

So Steve said they‘re unchanged. Does anyone have any pics to see?

So Steve said they‘re unchanged. Does anyone have any pics to see? That is 100% false. There is definitely a difference. And the red cardboard being downgraded to flimsy paper is true as well. I’ll see if my nephew has his Fiend unopened and I will take comparison pics to an earlier UE. The best way to see it is to compare the Hogan/Fiend character image side with one of the earlier UE’s. It’s clearly not as thick. I love you.

This happened with Legends as well when they took out the display stands starting with series 4

I just checked the UE Hollywood and compared it to the UE Rock figure box and yes, the dimensions are slightly different. The width and height of the boxes are the same but the depth is off a but, the box for Hollywood is slight smaller in depth, may a quarter inch. Don't know about the red cardboard on the inside as I have not opened either figures box.

I wouldn't have noticed it unless someone said something which made me check it. It's not that noticeable.

But I thought it was worth mentioning. That being said... between the smaller and depth and flimsier red cardboard on the inside, I hope it's not the start of a trend so to speak. I love you.

If they're in a position where they decided to cut costs, I'd much rather it come from some minor packaging changes than the actual figures.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this but the thickness and stiffness of the exterior packaging has also changed and is more flimsy almost like the basic cards. Once I realized the changes it became pretty obvious. Just my opinion but for $30-$45 a figure we should be getting premium packaging.

Wish you could order it without the box, and to save on shipping. Feel kind of bad tearing and crumpling up the box, and then stuffing it into to the trash can. What a waste.
