Some people on here are annoying/trolls/etc. why can't you block people on here? You can hide their posts or whatever but that really doesn't do anything, they still see yours as well. Seems pointless.

I never had to block anyone on here so I can't answer for that. A programmer at Proboards would probably have the answer to that.

Most people here are pretty alright. I enjoy most conversations I have on here; some people can be arrogant and keyboard warriors. And it's sad men well into they're 40's are like that. But other then that; some awesome people here. And I enjoy putting in some of my free time here. And always am welcome to variety of conversations with everyone here. If you ever wanna chat about anything or talk about anything that's frustrating you here man; you can always hit my line. I am pretty sure you can block other members; from contacting you personally. Outside of that; that's all it can do. Or that's what I remember; I think forum model has been the same since 2013 I believe. And that's how it was; so it should still be like that.

Yeah when I see a blocked persons post it draws my attention even more and it’s a bit distracting so I usually click it. I’d love to have a way to deal with trolls a lot better because some stuff is just a drag to have to deal with or even read..

So you click on something you don't want to read because you can't help yourself, and then want the site to have a feature that will stop you from doing that?

As long as people aren't just going back and forth calling people names and offering nothing, I've never understood wanting to "block" someone on a message board. Conversations are what message boards like this are for. You don't have to read every post the same way you don't have to read every comment on youtube. You don't have to respond to every post the same way you don't have to respond to every comment on youtube. There's no need to get offended or upset when the situation is basically completely under your control.

And maybe you don’t see any reason to block someone but there have been plenty of trolls that have come and gone on this site that offer no meaningful discussion or just crappost because it’s their “gimmick” (and not the funny or endearing type of gimmick posters).

This is super funny to me because I literally did just this with someone I have blocked too. I don't regret either decision thread was funny as hell but having him blocked made me notice way later and not engage

I guess that makes sense if you're trying to filter through that. No feature like that exists offline though. You just ignore what you don't care about and tune people out when you want to. When you see someone's name or avatar online it will only take a second for alarms to go off in your brain and then you skip on by. I don't know. Maybe I'm simplifying it because I like reading posts and there aren't many things people could be saying that would make me want to block them. Sometimes other poster's responses to those "trolls" can add entertainment as well. There are some funny guys here. Seems a waste to miss out on those laughs.

Ive blocked a few members here over the years. Some recently...Seeing the "blocked user" thing doesnt bother me...it just means someone stupid said something stupid and I need to keep scrolling.
