So I know WWE is in a lull as far as weekly Television goes (and have been for years). But does anybody else think WWE has put on some really strong ppvs on recent months. I remember watching Extreme Rules over the summer, and I thought it might have been one of the worst ppvs I ever watched. But since then, I do think their ppvs have improved greatly.
Summerslam was decent. Payback I actually missed, so I can't say much about. Clash of Champions was good. I thought Hell in a Cell was excellent. Despite three Cell matches being a bit much, they all worked.
I thought Survivor Series was a little boring. But I'm burnt out on the Smack Down vs. Raw story with no stakes. Theres really no reason to watch it, storyline wise.
Then TLC I thought was another great show to end the year. The 7-10 time slot works really well. I enjoyed the boneyard match and the MITB match worked too. But I'm glad WWE moved away from the cinematic matches. So yes, weekly TV is a bit of a chore to get through, but I think the past few months of ppvs have been worth watching. What do you guys think?

I think 99% of what they've put out for at least the past 2 or 3 years has been absolutely garbage.
*The last thing ive been excited for was the AJ Styles vs Undertaker, which was an awesome send off for taker.

Every WWE PPV this year has delivered overall in my opinion. Honestly I think a lot of stuff has benefited from not having a live crowd.

While the piped in noise can sound a little too artificial for my liking (Honestly it just needs more variety and a little less white noise), in general I have found many matches more enjoyable without the typical WWE live crowd. I really miss the Adam Cole Bay-Bay, and a few things like that, but I'll take it to not have to hear "what" 3000 times in a promo, etc. Overall though save for a little bit, I think this years PPV's have been overall stronger than in many past years.

I think the only two arguably bad ppvs this year was elimination chamber and extreme rules

Smackdown has been excellent for months. Came here to say this. Zayn has been a great champion, Reigns has as well. Overall some good stuff on Smackdown recently.

Smackdown has been excellent for months. Smackdown has been great since Roman came back, NXT is also excellent. It seems like when RAW is bad it makes the overall product look bad because it is the flagship.

PPVs have mostly been good I think. They’re shorter and don’t have huge cards so I think that has helped. Giving the stories they’re focusing on time to have proper matches.

The PPVs are when the artists get to be the artists mostly and not have the burden of bad creative. And since there is some of the best talent of any era on the roster right now, they have delivered.

I htink sitting through a three hour weekly wrestling show is just brutal. However, I always give the WWE credit for their PPVs they the majority of the time manage to put on one hell of a fun night of wrestling.
Most of the problem I have with the weekly TV shows is that they are just not all that interesting. Plus being told what happened five minutes earlier all through the night still drives me nuts!

Honestly people need to stop with the “Raw is 3 hours”. If you take away commercials, you only need to book around 2 hours of on screen action. Let’s say they keep their recaps, video packages, superstar entrances, etc. through the night, that’s only say 75 minutes of action/segments that need to occur on screen.
Smackdown is 2 hours and honestly, a lot happens on the show but how it’s executed is what matters and it always succeeds.
Smackdown: 1. KO/Roman 2. Bayley/Bianca 3. Sami/Big E 4. Carmella/Sasha 5. Profits/Ziggler/Roode 6. Otis/Gable Teaming 7. Billie Kay Resume
Raw: 1. Miz/McIntyre/AJ/Lee/Sheamus 2. Hurt Business/Hardy Bros/New Day 3. Asuka/Charlotte/Nia/Shayna 4. Ricochet/Retribution 5. Elias doing things 6. Mandy/Dana looking for tag titles 7. Angel Garza story 8. Randy Orton/The Fiend 9. R-Truth 24/7 title
So Smackdown has just as many stories going on and they manage every week to successfully incorporate and further them on their 2 hour show (actually 90 min show) and somehow even though Raw has an hour extra to give to their storylines, they can’t say the same.

PPVs were a slam dunk in 2020, minus Extreme Rules...but that's what happens when you give Dolph Ziggler a WWE title program in the year of our lord 2020.
People say Elimination Chamber was awful, but I honestly enjoyed that show. The only real hiccup was Shayna just mowing everyone down in the main event, especially looking at it now in hindsight considering what it led to for her.

the problem hasn't been the actual wrestling for quite some time. it's that nothing means anything at all. i can't speak on smackdown as I haven't watched it in some time, but I can't get through an episode of raw.

I missed a couple because I cancelled the network, but what I've seen has been good. I'm a little lost at times though because I havent watched raw since August.

So looks like the general agreement is weekly Raw is bad. Solution? Randy catches someone on fire each week.

What WWE needs to do is give people a REASON to tune in an watch.
At the end of each RAW, leave the show at a cliffhanger, make the viewer at home go 'my god I have got to see what happens next week.
The viewer at home isnt given enough excitement to tune in, thats why the ratings are lower than the titanic.

Every WWE PPV this year has delivered overall in my opinion. Honestly I think a lot of stuff has benefited from not having a live crowd. I think it’s a trade-off. Overall, it’s been a lot better without the typical disruptive WWE TV/PPV crowds. The different styles of matches have been a mixed bag, but some of them have been an improvement over what they’d have been as a traditional match - the Boneyard and Funhouse matches at Mania, for example. Things have had more time to grow, but there are things that really needed a live crowd, like the Mandy and Otis storyline. And the big moments (like Drew’s title wins) have felt smaller because of it. I think, too, there has been a safety net that kept stories treading water too long (Apollo Crews vs Hurt Business, Street Profits vs Vikings vs Garza and Andrade). On the whole, it’s made for a unique year. And Thunderdome is a huge improvement on the early lockdown days at the PC.

Agreed that the main roster PPV's have been better this year and since the fall when Reigns has returned had four straight PPV's that have had multiple matches that you could say are four star or above or in the top ten matches of the year for the WWE.This years PPV's overall has been stronger then the last few years in WWE,but the bigger problem is the TV shows(as other stated more so RAW) have been at least to me the least interesting they've ever been and no longer are must see TV.
