Happy New Year!
The Royal Rumble is the best PPV of the year! If WWE just adopted these Rules it would be perfect! I have posted variations of these regulations in the past!
**********************************************************************************************************************
1. The Royal Rumble is invitation only. The McMahon's possess 30 invitations that look like Academy Award envelops, with the entrance # inside, that they can distribute in a variety of ways. They can put an invitation on the line in a qualification match, they can hand deliver an invitation to a celebrity to create a mainstream buzz, they can honor a WWE legend with a gifted invitation. They should only show 10-15 being given out to still have the element of surprise. No more "declaring" for the RR on Twitter. I declared on Twitter before several Superstars last year and no one from WWE got in contact with me.(yes I'm kidding)(kinda)
2. The Ring should be surrounded by Refs and NXT Lumberjacks. Refs in zebra stripes, NXT Lumberjacks in Black polos and khakis. Off camera/out of focus for the most part until a Superstar decides to Cheat! Then there would be a beat down and get a NXT start some air time/start of a feud. There should be a small amount of Lumberjacks 5-7 with a Captain assigned. They could show backstage meetings with the Captain rallying the other Lumberjacks to not put up with any cheating! The head WWE ref would supervise the Captain of the Lumberjacks. Very limited roll except for a few cheating attempts especially early in the match so the audience know the remainder of the Rumble will be legit. Lumberjacks should make sure the Superstar enters the ring in a timely fashion. Lumberjacks should make sure that Superstars who go outside the ring other than being eliminated are thrown back in. Lumberjacks should ensure the Kofi and Kacy spots are quick. Think Ken Shamrock's role at WM13 Bret vs. Austin. The Match wasn't about Ken but by God you knew he was there!
3. Entrant Clock will be visible at all times. This is my biggest pet peeve. What ever the time domain is between entrants (1min, 90sec, 2min) needs to be consistent across the board. I highly recommend :90 seconds. Last few years it has gotten way out of hand with time between entrants ranging from 30sec -3min in the same rumble match! My solution is to have a running clock the entire time that expands larger with :10 seconds left. I understand that "spots" need to happen, choreograph better!
***************************************************************************************************************
I used to have other rules and regulations such as Superstars canāt be eliminated by a non legal entity, Superstars who exit the ring other than being eliminated have :10 seconds to reenter, Superstars must enter the ring within :10 seconds of their respective entrant buzzer, and Superstars are eliminated when they are thrown over the top rope and lose contact with any part of the ring but with the Lumberjacks in place many problems could be prevented.
When I say problems I mean intelligence insulting problems not heels being heels.
*****One last point I want to reiterate is the importance albeit limited role of the Lumberjack. This is NOT a Lumberjack match they will have a very limited role and be rarely mentioned. 2-3 minor spots, totaling less than a minute of a one hour match.*****
I can't stress enough how I want you all to go watch Bret vs. Austin at WM13 and study Ken Shamrock's role. Shamrock added authenticity never seen before and he did so just by the mere mention of his presence and not bc he actually was involved. Shamrock got his spot at the end when he duplexed Bret, that was it.
