Not my favorite episode, but they have such a high standard that just means it was only really good lol. The opener was fantastic then Hangman broke my heart lol.
Cody Avalon sucked.
I like comorotto but I agree this wasn't the match to do that.
I really liked Leyla Penelope, but I'm a huge fan of both so that makes sense.
Six man tag and private party turn was fun though sloppy.
Main event was a great match but a stupid decision for the ending. How long are we gonna be stuck waiting with pnp in purgatory.
Liked the segments and crazy hyped for the women's tournament.

Jericho looks worse every week. He’s been on a steady decline for months and looks like total crap now 2020 was not his year. 2021 ain’t looking much better. best case scenario imo: mjf ultimately causes inner circle to implode. find a way to write jericho off for a bit, whether it's a beatdown via wardog/mjf/floyd/etc. during his time off, i would hope he cuts some weight, trains harder to improve his in-ring work back to what it could/should be. come back with one more ultimate repackage that has hints of all the different iterations of jericho over the years but keep him in sort of a tweener role at the start. give him his match with mjf, and hope to god they can put on a clinic. after that, use him in a more part-time role to only have big matches with major stakes. each time keep his general story being that he's a legend that isn't getting the respect he deserves. he's already earned his place in wrestling history, and doesn't have to keep doing this, but he's not gonna go out with people thinking he's a washed up joke. keep him off commentary for good. sprinkle different eras of jericho in each promo, have him say stuff that will pop the crowd, then immediately chit on them to get heat. find a way to make people love and hate him at the same time again. he can make you laugh your ass off, then be an absolute dick; kill it in the ring, making each match a banger, but keep them spread out to where you're always left wanting more; he says this could be his last run, but he's gonna do things on his own terms. he's a superstar and doesn't need aew, aew needs him... he's so busy with fozzy and other gigs that if tony wants him to be on the show, it's gonna cost him more and more each time, or something along those lines. build the whole run up to one last match at all out against page where his original title run started. hangman is champion by this point, or jericho wins it back at some point, either way, the title is on the line. he gets so cocky that he doubles down with the stips, saying he's positive that since he beat hangman the first time, he KNOWS he can do it again. he goes as far as to say if hangman beats him, he will retire... they have an absolute classic, so many close calls, and it seems like it's anyones match to win. hangman ultimately wins, page reaches out for a handshake as a show of respect, jericho goes out on a high note after an awesome run. obviously there would be more feuds than just mjf and hangman, but those would definitely be his first and last opponents, with a few more to spread the run out like sammy, kenny, (jungle boy?), and mox in no particular order.

Cleaned up and less 2 pages of comments than before, the thread has been re-opened. Let's keep it that way.

So I was reading a popular theory about the women's tournament. The flags being on each side is significant. Half the tournament would take place in Japan using the TJPW/Gatoh Move rosters, Emi/Riho/Yuka obviously, probably Ryu Mizunami, she's done an AEW appearance before. I'm guessing/hoping Maki Itoh. The idea being the winner from that bracket (Riho) would fly over for the tournament finals and start her next title run. Unfortunately I don't see Yuka coming over until the pandemic is done, since as far as I'm aware she's a significant part of the TJPW rostert, likewise with Maki Itoh, who has expressed interest in appearing in AEW, and is absolutely hilarious. Her twitter game is freaking amazing. Kenny and Khan are both really high on Joshi wrestling (rightfully so imo), so this theory really doesn't sound that farfetched at all.
I would assume the 8 on the "american" side would be: Britt, Serena, Tay, Anna, Swole, Shanna, Nyla and Penelope.

I know they haven’t announced anyone for it yet but I think Britt is winning the tournament. Just seems like she’s been existing for a while and needs something to get back in the title picture

Britt will probably get a title run sooner than later, but I find her in-ring work just meh and ideally I want champions to have matches I look forward to watching. Is she capable of good 15+ minute matches? Admittedly she's never really been given the opportunity so maybe, but just from what I've seen, eh ...
I want to be wrong though because she's the only one who really has any character, which is a real AEW failure in and of itself.

She's still got some weak points, but she's far more capable of good matches than a year and a half ago. That said I think the advantage to Britt right now is you don't need her to wrestle a ton to keep the title relevant. She can accomplish just as much by talking, which lets other women get valuable tv time more frequently, while keeping the title relevant and in the picture. Shida will have a much better second reign with full crowds and a more developed division that gets more tv time. Britt is the woman for the job right now.

No arguments about her sling blade. Then again, the sling blade is tied with the Spanish fly for my most hated wrestling moves lol

I just hope this tournament helps them start to build some storylines and fueuds for the Women's division...the best thing they've done is the Britt Baker Thunder Rosa feude but is Rosa even staying around after that?? Hopefully...besides that was the Brandi/Jade deal but of course, that's out the window now-though Red Velvet seems good enough to keep that story interesting maybe.
