So we're all familiar with the concept of a belt decorated in jewels and precious metals to indicate a combat sports championship that is to be defended from contest to contest.
Can we discuss other types of items that would be cool to use in place of a belt?
For example: In my 1/18th scale figure fed, I created what I thought of as an artifact type item to represent my fed's flagship championship title. I essentially was struggling to make a decent, functioning belt for the four inch/gi joe sized figures and elected to create a pair of castle towers made of jewelry that were hung about the champion's neck. It was meant to indicate that said champion now has the burden of ruling the kingdom of the promotion and the ring.
"Heavy weighs the neck yoked to glory" was my phrasing.
Those of you who know me are aware how much I cherish tradition, but I also like it when we can create new traditions based on well thought out ideas. "
So I was wondering if anyone else has done this or if anyone had any cool ideas they want to share about physical items to represent championships. This is in no way hating on belts or advocating getting rid of belts. Just to add something different and potentially preserve the novelty of seeing belts.

I feel like a gauntlet would be something appropriate to compete for. Also, although I only know a little bit about it, I know Progress wrestling used to have a staff as their main championship and the tag team titles were a shield split in two that would fit together.

The shield sounds awesome! Also with the popularity of Thanos and the Infinity War/End Game films, you would think a gauntlet would carry more cultural significance to people than before.

Some type of trophy is the first thing that comes to mind. We see it in all other sports and competitions.
There’s also like a simple plaque or medals to go around the neck.
If you think about it, companies like WWE and AEW do toy with this concept a bit. You have the money in the bank briefcase, which I consider to be a championship. When they do the King of the Ring, there’s a crown, robe, and scepter. AEW had the Diamond Dynamite Ring.
I also consider the Royal Rumble winner to be a champion, even though there is no physical championship.

Even if they haven’t done it well. I think the Rumble winner needs a medal.

The PP3 cup championship in cwfh is an urn (paul bearer). Maybe have a one off championship item be unique to that winner of a tourney, that represents that person, like a blown glass beer can for SCSA, a gold action figure for ZR, beer logo painted singapore cane for Sandman, etc. Might be a unique item that the wrestler is the only one to ever have, and be able to remember when the look at it in their homes.

WWE should capitalize on pop culture meme glory and award the reigning champion a boat load of shares to be passed between champions so that the value of the championship can fluctuate in a more measurable way than it already does now.

A staff would be cool, just like what Progress Wrestling did in the past.

A staff would be cool, just like what Progress Wrestling did in the past. I think it’s becoming clear I am not familiar enough with PROGRESS and need to check it more of their stuff.

I consider the Money In The Bank to be a championship, any trophy from a tournament, and the royal attire for the King of the Ring winner.

Back in the 80s, the Mid-South television championship was a medal. Dick Slater won it & called it "an unimpressive piece of junk" & threw it into a river.

Never seen it anywhere, but I think a Flag to carry to the ring and wave around might work. Plus, then you have the flagpole as an obvious weapon when needed.
And then you can have custom colors and designs to match the gimmick of the champion.

FCW had a medal as their Jack Brisco 15 Championship. I love how they spared no expense on the medal.
