I've always wondered, what would the WWF have done if Shawn lost his grip while he was hanging on the ropes at the end and cleanly fell to the floor?
How do you think they would have played it off? They were going with Diesel/Shawn at WrestleMania XI no matter what, but I'm just curious how they would have gotten there if that spot went wrong.
Also, no chance Bulldog wins the Rumble and still finds himself jerking the curtain at WrestleMania against the Blu Brothers. Poor guy.

I could see HBK goading Bulldog to put his title shot on the line in a match on Raw with Michaels winning via cheating and we get a deal similar to Orton/Rey from 06 with Tunney putting Bulldog in the match to make it a triple threat.

It is pretty crazy how in back-to-back years the Rumble match culminated in a pretty risky ending that could've easily been screwed up.
At least for the 1994 match the cameras were intentionally positioned so that each angle had some sort of obstruction so the TV audience never had a clear shot of when Bret and Lex hit the floor. For 1995 though, that camera was locked in on Shawn just dangling there for a while. Any slip up would have been impossible to hide.
Kudos to HBK and Bret/Luger for pulling those endings off.

I recall Shawn saying in his book, he purposely held on longer than he was suppose to. It was suppose to be real quick but he wanted to build more drama

Just saying after an hour in the ring he had to be dripping with sweat making it that much more impressive.

It would have been cleaned up the next night on RAW.

We also wouldve seen Pam Anderson celebrating with Davy Boy That would have been interesting just because they'd have had to end the PPV on an audible with Davey the winner having Pamela Anderson at his side heading towards a World title match against Diesel at WrestleMania XI. 🤣

Well they did keep it on the hard cam the entire time so you wouldn’t have seen if both feet woulda touched. My guess is that they woulda said both feet never touched and then re-record it when they showed the replay on Superstars and other broadcasts.

No way was Bulldog ever getting anything in 1995. He was just back & Vince would never truly forgive him or properly trust him after Summerslam 92. He got the ic strap off him in 92 asap.
I don't think triple threats were on Vince's radar in 95 Brain...
If it went wrong I see them doing a match on Raw & HBK getting it that way.

No way Vince does Diesel/Bulldog at WM11. They likely have a match on Raw where HBK beats Bulldog for the title shot. Bulldog was always booked by Vince as an upper midcarder who could occasionally main event, but never as a true top guy. Plus Bulldog was only back a few months by that point so no way Vince pushes him that strong.
It was clear at the time that Vince was going all in on Diesel and HBK and would have stuck to that match even if Shawn had botched in the Rumble.

I hated the ending to this Royal Rumble and I say that as a huge HBK fan. Shawn Michaels did a great job of pulling this off, but they made Davey Boy look like such a freaking moron in the process.

True, I have always read that they were good friends and they certainly had good matches together, but Shawn always came out on top no matter what they did lol.

LOL HBK had one foot planted really well on the floor, if he were to let go by accident he probably would have just hopped on one foot and roll back in and then for the next 26 years we'd be hearing how smart he was for doing that.

I was just throwing ideas out there lol

I was just throwing ideas out there lol It woulda been logical but Vince didn't start tinkering with 3 ways until house shows in 97. I'm not sure what Vince woulda done in this scenario, but since Diesel was going over either way and Davey was still a star they may have just rolled with that and kept Shawn building up over the Summer.

Yup same as....all reports indicate they were good buddies and quite friendly...even during the hostilities of 97 Davey was the one to step in at times. thinkt he hard feeling started around IYH: One Night Only. Davey was NOT happy about that match.
