Still slightly shorter matches than normal.
(The Raw intro plays, with Across the Nation by Union Underground, leading to us cutting to the ring.)
JR" Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Monday night Raw. We have an amazing show tonight, with the first two qualifying matches of Chris Sabin's major X Division Championship challenge at Bound For Glory, as well as several qualifiers for the Million Dollar Man invitational.
Tenay: But it looks like we are starting with the Dudleyz giving the Gymini their rematch, as they are already in the ring.
(The Dudleyz call out the Gymini, granting them their "anytime, anywhere" rematch. Once the Gymini come out, the Dudleyz announce that there are very special rules. Both members of either team have to be busted open, and then kept down for a count of ten. And for this special match, there is a special guest ref. The Road Warriors' music hits and Animal comes out in a ref shirt. Though the Gymini try to get the drop on the Dudleyz early, Animal singles out Jake, while the Dudleyz tag team Jesse. Busting open Jake, Animal chains him to the barracade and counts to ten when he can't get up. The Dudleyz take their liberties with Jesse, using knucks to make him bleed, then 3ding him on the stairs for the 10 count. Animal takes back his shoulder pads and raises the Dudleyz hands in victory.)
Tenay: That was a beating, not a match.
JR: It was exactly what the Gymini have had coming for a while.
(Backstage Leticia Cline is asking R-Truth why he attacked the Alpha Male.)
R-Truth: Monty Brown beat me down, but he did not beat me. He did not defeat me. He did not break me. He wants to brag that he won. He won nothing. The Alpha Male knows he has met his match. He is not the biggest thing on the Serengeti anymore. And his little story of how he beat me lets him pretend he is still the biggest predator, the Alpha Male, instead of a guy who barely got away with his pride. I will take that Pride away from him. R-Truth is already the new Big Dog in the pack....he just hasn't realized it yet.
Jr: And we have the first of four number one contendership matches for the X Division title.
(Aj Styles and Super Crazy go toe to toe. For several minutes neither can land an offensive move, as they dodge or reverse each other. After several flowing switches between the two, AJ hits the pele and follows with a phenomenal forearm. When he is unable to get a pin, he goes top rope, but Super Crazy catches him with a top rope hurricanrana. Several pin attempts go nowhere. Finally, Crazy goes for a top rope move, but AJ catches him and hits the Styles' Clash for the win.)
JR: And AJ becomes the first of four contenders facing Chris Sabin at Bound For Glory.
(When we come back from commercial, Shelton Benjamin, Chavo Guerrero and JTG are in the ring. JTG and Chavo focus more on each other than Benjamin. The two weaken each other, allowing Benjamin to sneak in and T-Bone Suplex Chavo, before hitting a Dragon Whip on JTG for the roll up win, holding the tights.)
JR: What a disgraceful way to pull out the victory.
Tenay: And yet, pull it out he did. Shelton Benjamin earned his spot in the Million Dollar battle royale.
(Foley has both Hall and HBK in his office.)
Foley: For almost three months, you two have been tearing apart my federation. You seem to think you are all that matters. And I grant, you are my two world champions. BUT, you are not the ONLY champions. So tonight, here in Chicago, Illinois, you two will each face off against other champions. Shawn, as the winner...more or less...of last week's match, you get to choose who you will face, and who Scott will face. You can either face the Hardcore Champion, or the Intercontinental champion.
HBK: Is it a hardcore match?
Foley: No, it'll be normal.
HBK: Then I will choose Kane.
Foley: Go get ready for your matches. And, so help me god, if either of you go after the other tonight, you will regret it.
(Back in the ring, Big Show and DDP face off. While DDP tries to stay out of Show's range, hitting and running, eventually, Show's bigger size catches up. He pounds away at DDP, tossing him like a rag doll. DDP goes for a last ditch diamond cutter, but Show reverses it into a hog log for the win.)
JR: You have to respect DDP's effort here tonight, facing off against a man twice his size. But his the size of his heart couldn't overcome the size of Show's body.
(We go to commercial and return to Rey Mysterio v William Regal in the next MDM matchup. Rey's superior speed allows him to hit a few moves, but Regal quickly catches him in devastating suplexes and submissions. But Rey works his way free for more highflying moves. Countering a suplex into an arm drag, Rey sets up for the 619. He hits it, but then Tajiri's music hits, which makes him pause. No one comes out, but Regal has recovered. So when Rey goes for the West Coast Pop, Regal counters into a powerbomb, then forces Rey to tap to the Regal Stretch.)
JR: Kyo Dai is determined to keep Rey Mysterio down. They will not give him a moment's peace.
Tenay: And Tajiri has, as yet, refused to explain exactly what it is he has against Rey Mysterio.
(Cutting backstage, we see Orton preparing for a promo. But before he can say anything, Lesnar attacks him with Goldberg's help. He lifts up Orton for the F5 and Goldberg spears him out of it, straight into the wall.)
JR: Do you think that Orton is regretting making an enemy of Lesnar yet?
Tenay: I don't know if he's conscious to regret anything. But I don't think Brock is done yet.
JR: But its time for our second X Division qualifier. After Shark Boy's criticism, Sabin has ensured he is in the match.
Tenay: But he doesn't get a one on one match, like everyone else. It's a triple threat.
(Shark Boy, Alex Shelley and Hurricane face off. Shark boy dominates the other two, but he gets distracted after hitting a Stunner, and gets in Sabin's face at ringside. While he does, Shelley gets the pin on the stunned Hurricane, and advances to Bound For Glory.)
JR: Shark Boy is screwed out of his shot again.
Tenay: He did this to himself, JR. He didn't have to abandon the match.
JR: But he was distracted by Sabin.
(After the commercial, we see a six way dance for a MDM slot between Billy Gunn, Maven, Christian, Nitro, Elijah Burke and Dolph Ziggler. There is no clear winner, and the tag structure breaks down quickly. Everyone hits their finishers, but Maven is the last to do so, with his patented top rope bulldog. MDM demands the ref make the count, and Maven moves to the battle royale.)
(Backstage we see Rhyno in Foley's office.)
Foley: Look, I understand where you are coming from. I have been in meetings with legal all day. I have argued your case, but our lawyers tell me that the match was valid, and that, technically, the title belongs to MVP. We will find a way to fix this...but for now, he has to hold the belt.
Rhyno: That's bullcrap. He can just steal my title?
Foley: I'm sorry. I am. But assuming he keeps it...I promise, we will give you your shot.
(Back in the ring, RVD faces off with Kevin Nash. His unorthodox style keeps Nash off guard, but Hogan jumps to the apron. While the ref is banning him from ringside, Nash wraps a chain around his knuckles to deck RVD. Hogan drops and the ref turns to see Nash jacknife RVD for the three count.)
(Coming back from comercial, we have the first of two main events, where Rhyno is facing off with Scott Hall. Though Rhyno is pure fury and dominates Hall throughout the match, he misses a Gore into the corner, going head first into the pole. Hall pulls him out and hits a quick Outsider's Edge for the victory.)
JR: Unbelievable, Tenay. Scott Hall managed to outmanuever Rhyno.
Tenay: But will Shawn Michaels have the same luck with Kane?
(Hall is escorted out by security as Kane makes his way to the ring. HBK comes down and attacks Kane with a flurry of punches before the bell even rings.)
JR: What a cheap shot!
Tenay: It's what you have to do against the Big Red Machine, JR.
(Kane launches HBK halfway across the ring. Before he can capitalize, HBK has slid out of the ring, and taken Kane's leg with him, wrapping it around the ring post. Though Kane is phased, he is still able to fend off HBK's next flurry and toss him over the ropes this time. Kane goes for a dive off the apron, but Shawn catches him with a superkick on the way down. He rolls him in, but, due to the length of time, Kane is able to kick out.)
Tenay: In a lesser man, that might have put him away.
JR: This man is truly not human.
(Michaels goes to the top rope, probably for a leap of faith. But he sees Kane rising, so he tries a moonsault. Unfortunately for him, Kane catches him, and drops him into a Tombstone. Kane gets a victory over the champ.)
Tenay: Kane has just pulled out a massive upset over the WCW Champion, but what is this?
(Umaga slides into the ring behind him. Kane turns into a Samoan Spike. Umaga briefly celebrates, but Kane sits up. Shocked, Umaga slides out of the ring. Staring him down, Kane throws his arms down to light his pyros on the ring posts. In the eerie light, the two glare at each other as the show goes off the air. )
