I just watched ‘Taker’s return from 2011 (02/21/11, that famous thing), and forgot about how good that program he had with Triple H was. Both that one, and the one the next year with a Hell in a Cell match and Shawn as ref. During the actual period, though, I wasn’t into it. ‘11 was a bit of a dud to me at the time, as we were coming off of the (again, to me at the time) lackluster Nexus angle and just waiting for the greatness of the Summer of Punk to arrive. I’m like this with a lot of things in wrestling; not a huge fan at the time, but pass some time, change the product and world, slap some nostalgia on it and I’m into it. I really think now 2011 had a lot of good content beyond Summer of Punk. What/who are some angles, matches, wrestlers, etc. you weren’t into “at the time” but grew to love later as a piece of history/nostalgia?

Everything john cena.
With the clear lack of starpower in wwe I've learned to appreciate him a lot.

WWE in 2011 has lots of good content sprinkled in; they're was lots of really good PPV matches from 09-2011.
I honestly thought Triple H-Taker in 2011 when it started was eh. I think I was snarky 10 year old; thinking well we already saw it at WM 17. And; I just thought it was pointless. And more pointless for WrestleMania 28. But; I thought it came out beautiful. I guess it was little repetitive with 2 guys sharing 4 years of Mania's. And I think honestly to be fair if we were to Cena/Taker as a 5 star classic that blew the door downs. 2009-2013 would be the most ideal timeframe. So Maybe it's that; and I always wanted to see a angle where Kane with his remasking was actually unstoppable and from the 2010 leg of they're feud that he grew stronger then his older brother. And was able to finally destroy him.
Outside of that; HBK/HHH - Taker saga from 09-2012 was some fantastic beautiful story telling. And we got 4 kick ass matches that played into a larger story; but each match having different story within it. And pretty from 07-2013 gave us 6 years of insanely good heart stopping streak matches.
I always hated Delrio/Ziggler Double turn at Payback. And they did Ziggler dirty cutting his reign that short; but I think we finally ended the stupid Delrio baby face run; and we got Ziggler get his first baby face run. Which; I think was good.

Bro I feel bad for you. Living childhood wrestling time in the internet age...I say that because of you saying you were a snarky 10 year old. I was 10 during some of the roughest times in WWF and though now through adult eyes I realize how bad some of the stuff was (WrestleMania 9 for instance) as a kid I ate up anything they threw at me. In fact WM 9 was a favorite of mine growing up and I still have a soft spot for it today.

Daniel Bryan beating Triple H, Randy Orton, and Batista. In 2014 I was 10 and I had always been a fan of Orton, Trips, and Batista. I liked Daniel Bryan too but I thought he was a career mid-carder and didn't stand a chance against the real top guys. I was happy when he beat Cena (because I hated Cena). But when Orton cashed in MITB and formed the Authority I was hyped. I never wanted Orton to lose them belts. I remember when TLC 2013 rolled around and being worried Cena would beat Orton. At the Rumble I wanted Batista to win (which he did) and I wanted him to go 1v1 with Orton with Orton winning. At the time I was pissed that Bryan beat all three in one night. In reality one of them could beat his ass, so how could he beat all three of them. That was my mentality. In hindsight, I was obviously wrong... Until Bryan had to vacate the belt. One thing I'll never be wrong about is that Orton's title runs are never long enough. if we could get 365 days of Orton as champ, I'd be a happy boy.

I thought the double turn was good and they played the concussion angle great (i think that was the last time they did an angle about concussion, especially basing it off of a real concussion). I think Ziggler was f*cked, thought it back then and still do. Dolph Ziggler in 2012-13 was gold every time he was on screen.

Jericho as champion in the WWF. At the time I didn't see him as Rock/Austin/HHH caliber.

In all honesty, Eddie Guerrero winning the WWE Championship in 2004. At the time I was around 14 years old, and was fully sold on a Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar Undisputed Championship Match at Wrestlemania, ever since they teased it at Survivor Series 2003. I couldn't for the life of me work out how Eddie had such a huge ovation when he won at No Way Out, and at the time I had grown up with him just being a solid mid to undercard European Championship type guy. I was clearly an Attitude era child, invested heavily on the big stars and characters. I got booking and where story's were heading to an extent, but obviously hadn't clocked that Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar were either A) leaving, or B) simply didn't need the Title.
I guess I just thought it was super random at the time, and couldn't get my head around why it was happening. I was more on board and sold with Benoit, and as soon as they did the closing celebrations at Wrestlemania XX the whole thing made sense. It would have been great to have marked out for Eddie's win though, it seemed as though everyone in the crowd knew it was going down.

It started with him and now as of 2021 I can count the number of current product shows I've watched in the past 4 years on my hands.

But definitively the magic of being a new fan and kid cannot be compared. The love I had for WWE in 2008-2010 and how I thought it was real was amazing growing up. Then I discovered the dirt sheets and became a smart mark for a kid by 2011; Santa was not real no more to say the least

My predictions for "future of the company" at that time were Miz, Cody Rhodes, and Ziggler. I thought Ziggler would follow Miz's footstep in having a great heel WWE Championship run after cashing in MITB. I always was a fan of Cody dating back to his 2007 RAW debut, I lost interest in him in AEW. Miz was entertaining when he wore long shorts and had a faux hawk, when he became a normal wrestler I lost interest a bit but then he won MITB and became champ. I feel like they all kinda got f*cked in different ways.

Nope, I still hate him. His in-ring work got better about a decade after winning his first world championship but to little to late. In the RA era Batista was better than him in everyway.

triple h's reign of terror. over time I've come to appreciate the correlation he had with Harley Race and Flair - and it's the one time the WWE really went with a heel champion for a long planned run.
I just wish it hadn't been done at the expense of other talent, and also that it had served to be a big deal when he eventually put someone over. my bias would be RVD but booker t as well. even Kane was initially on a major face run till he met up with the game. although Benoit making him tap at the time was huge.

This is a tuff one because personally I usually make up my mind then and there and it rarely changes. That said I would go with the early 90s WCW which use to air at like 1am. My dad was heavy on it and would try to get me to stay up and watch it with him only for me to shut down as soon as the opening theme to the program played.
In hindsight how special were those times in wrestling when even your dad would be into it? Even though I didnt get into WCW until around 96, I can look back at the works of Sting, Flair, Rude, Vader, Road Warriors, etc and think to myself how amazing the overall sport was at that time.
