I notice that a lot of people loved (and still tend to) the ruthless aggression figures from back in the day. I see a lot of people who still like to collect and use them for customs or stop motions and etc. I definitely feel that jakks improved once they started to do the impact figures but when they were with wwe I don't think they were too great. My biggest gripe was the fact that you could almost never buy a figure where both arms will go down all the way. Usually only one arm will kinda stay up a quarter of the way.

Ruthless aggressions were hit or miss imo. Overall, I liked them a bit more than TTLs as they had a few more points of articulation and the legs moved a lot better. As you stated, the arms do tend to flare out and never sit at the side normally unless they had a cruiserweight torso (the sides were smaller, so it makes sense) and depending on the year the figure was released, the heads could either end up being too tiny or too massive. Then of course, there's the controversy of the half-decal figures with plain backs.
No matter how you look at it, each figure line will have it's ups and downs, but I'd still say that these figures were good when done right.

They were more hits than misses & you could have a pretty complete collection due to the variety of characters that were made in a variety of attires: ring gear, suits, entrance t shirts/jackets.

Some great ECW names I would have loved to have in the classic era in that line

Though I will admit, I did buy an octagon and Royce Gracie years ago on a whim. But back to RAs, I think my favorite that I owned back in the day had to be either the Classic Superstars Bret Hart in all pink or (if we're getting technical here) Rocky 3 Rocky Balboa. |

I’ll always have a love for RA figures, especially customising them. It never bothered me when Jakks would leave out details because it gave me an opportunity to paint and add more intricate details on incomplete figures which made collecting fun for me. I’m not sure why but regardless of the parts and proportions not being anatomically correct I preferred them over Elites and found them better to hold, I recently brought the AJ/Finn Elite 2 pack and painted Finn’s shoe designs and found it far too flimsy. Despite Elites looking much more better and accurate, RA’s will always be my favourite style of wrestling figures because of the nostalgia I have for collecting during the 2000’s. The headscans were also painted incredible and still hold up better than most TrueFX’s too IMO.

I was so happy with the release of the RA figures. It salvaged my love of collection after the TTL line because TTL figures nearly killed my love of collecting.
I don't have many left anymore but I still enjoy the ones that remain.

I pick up loose figures if i see them at yard sales or at toy shows, picked up a dozen or so classics that way.
I finally got the AD1 Jeff Hardy christmas 2019. It was a gift from a friend and fellow vintage toy collector. he doesnt watch wrestling or anything and knew i wanted the figure.
I remember years ago on this board under a different account i traded like 10 classics for the AD1 hardy and the dude never sent it to me, back in like 2006

The cast of characters that got RA releases, and even the variety in guys that got multiple, was off the charts. Then to start the Classic line and make it RA, I can't see any company (and I do include Mattel with this statement) making a more wide spread line. It felt like every other day a new wave was announced in some capacity, be it Ring Rage, the PPV series, all the exclusives we got. I just don't think it can be beat, at least for me. Those figures are my childhood, those figures are nostalgia, those figures are every great memory I have with wrestling figures. Still to this day I only collect Jakks Classics, I still have the same love, if not even more, that I had when I was a kid.

Rubber bands can help tighten loose arms! I actually saw it in a video. Its a weird idea for a fix but it definitely helps. And it basically hides within the shoulder socket. Plus I've used it for a couple of instances. |
