The new WWX opener with infamous quotes from the WWX past plays us in.McMahon: "Welcome ladies and gentlemen to Domination, Thursday’s hottest show. This show promises to be the most unpredictable of the entire week. We are live tonight from Seattle, Washington. Joining me to welcome you all from ringside is, of course, Jesse ‘The Body’ Ventura! Jesse?”
Ventura: “McMahon..something is happening in the back, so let’s dispense with the pleasantries and see what’s going on.”
Jimmy Snuka is screaming in Snitsky’s face.
Snuka: “You’d better be preparing for this tag team match tonight or I will ask Saxton to trade you myself.”
Snitsky goes to punch him in the face, which causes Snuka to flinch a bit, but then Snitsky points at himself.
Snitsky: “It wasn’t my fault!” They head off in opposite directions.
Scott Stanford: “Please welcome my guest at this time, Daivari. Daivari, two weeks ago, when you were defeated by Kane, it stopped your momentum towards eventually challenging Christian for the European Championship. What’s next for you?”
Daivari: “Let’s talk about the real story here. About how The Rock screwed me out of that match. I had Kane right where I wanted him. The Rock isn’t even the peoples’ champion any more. They don’t support him, so he might as well go back to Hollywood because tonight my team, the American Italians, are in the ring with the former WWX Tag Team Champions and nothing is going to stop us from defeating them. If The Rock thinks I’m scared of him, especially without his ‘millions and millions’ behind him, then he can try to get in our way and see what happens. Hassan has been waiting for an excuse to be set loose on The Rock anyway.”
McMahon: “In just a few minutes on this program, we have already seen glimpses of things to come in both the WWX Tag Team division and the Peoples’ Intercontinental Championship division. Yet another reason why Domination was watched by more people than any other WWX show last week.”
Stanford: “Please welcome at this time my second guest of the night, the former #1 contender to the Universal Championship, Danny Basham. Last week, you told the world that you and former Universal Champion, Lance Cade, were laser focused on winning the WWX Tag Team Championships. You backed that up when your team won the match against the former champions, YogaMania. However, it was Lance Cade that pinned DDP to earn the victory. What do you say to those who feel that Lance Cade teaming with you is a step down for his career?”
Basham: “A tag team is two people, Stanford. We won last week as a team. We are the number one ranked tag team in the division as a team. I have worn tag team gold before. I have proven not only to be a professional at tag team wrestling elsewhere, but, here in the WWX, I showcased my abilities as a singles wrestler. We defeated the so-called legends in Hulk Hogan and DDP last week, not just him.”
Chris Benoit interrupts.
Benoit: “Hey, hey, hey. You want to talk about who you two have beaten? We have defeated every tag team that is been put in front of us, including your former heroes. All of your tag team championships are meaningless. Every partner that you have ever had has carried you and you’re finally being called out on it because Lance Cade is miles ahead of you.”
Basham: “Carried me? That’s why I’ve been champions with all of them and I’m about to do it again? You got it wrong, I am the professional. I am the juice behind every tag team I have ever been in, and that includes my own brother.”
Benoit: “If you’re so talented, you’re so gifted, then how come you lost to former Internet Champion Sonjay Dutt by himself when you were in a tag team with Tatanka? You think everybody just forgot about that? About how you got pinned in a handicap match? Think about that while I’m making you tap out tonight.” Benoit slaps Basham across the face and walks away. Basham just stares after him in stunned silence rubbing his jaw.
Ventura: “Here’s the situation, McMahon. I commend Basham for standing up to the champion, but he needs to take a step back. His career could end up being in tag team competition for the rest of his time and he needs to make sure that these other guys are going to want to team with him.”
McMahon: “Well there isn’t animosity between Basham and everybody he has teamed with. His comments may have changed that fact, but that remains to be seen. For example, that match Benoit mentioned, Tatanka was not upset about that, so far as we ever knew, so let’s go to a taped interview from Native American warrior, Tatanka.”
Tatanka: “You all know who I am. I’ve had a lot of people tell me they only know me as the guy who is constantly on the losing side of handicap matches, despite always having the advantage. I’m not sure why when I’ve done plenty of other far more noteworthy things that are worth discussing. I’ve also won handicap matches by myself. I live and breathe this industry. I can’t win them all; by myself or otherwise. I am an athlete. I work hard every day to perfect my in-ring work. My in-ring style has been described as brute force only, but I am capable of far more than that and I don’t get credit for it. You won’t see me hitting hurricanranas off the top rope and winning matches with a shooting star press, but that doesn’t mean I can’t go to the top rope. I don’t see myself failing at this. I’m one of, if not the only, Native American wrestler on this roster, and that means a lot to me. I’ll do whatever I have to do to win a championship.”
Cut to Tatanka live with Kurt Angle. Angle: “Are you ready? You’ve been paired up with just about everybody and, now, it’s time for you to join the Main Event Mafia, my Main Event Mafia. I’m going to need you to show me you’re worth my time, though, and I have got you the opportunity to do that. All you have to do is win your match tonight and you will be guaranteed a future match for the WWX Tag Team Championships. You are going to be the first guy that Kurt Angle ‘made’. You’re going to be a made man and it’s going to come at the expense of two guys who are a thorn in my side as Television Champion, so I kill two birds with one stone here tonight. If you lose, though…look just don’t lose.”
Tatanka: “WWX’s only Olympic gold medalist is just what I need to take my career to new heights. I have to ask, though, should I be doing anything differently with my in-ring moves?”
Angle: “No. Just follow the plan that I lay out for you, like we agreed, and there is no reason why a guy like Orlando Jordan could even get close to beating you. Speak of the thorns in my side.”
Enter Orlando Jordan and Paul Burchill.
Burchill: “Tatanka, hmm, last time we saw you, it was while you were getting pinned by Shad Gaspard on his way to winning the North American Championship. Not exactly inspiring and in no way is it going to help you when you take on my tag team partner tonight because I am a far better trainer than Kurt Angle ever could be. Sure, I dress like a pirate on occasion, but I am all business in that ring, ask anybody. You better be on top of your game tonight and I would suggest dropping Angle, he only cares about himself. Do yourself a favor.”
Tatanka: “All due respect, but you don’t scare me.”
Burchill: “Okay, Jordan, why don’t you tell him what you’re going to do to him tonight?”
Jordan: “Let me explain something to you. This won’t be my debut; you’re not facing some rookie out there. I was once a part of the number one ranked tag team in the WWX Tag Team division. I once destroyed hometown hero, Kyle Smith, in under three minutes. You’re not even in your hometown, what do you think is going to happen to you tonight?”
Tatanka: “You know, the first thing Angle told me to keep in mind is to do all of my talking in the ring.”
Angle: “Hey, Burchill, my guy is going to defeat your guy. Oh, it’s true. It’s damn true.”
Roberts: “The following contest is set for one fall with a 15-minute time limit and it is presented to you by the WWX Tag Team division. Introducing the participants first, being accompanied to the ring by professional wrestling’s only olmypic gold medalist Kurt Angle, standing at 6’2, weighing in at 285lbs, from Pembroke, North Carolina; he is the Native American warrior, Tatanka! And, introducing his opponent, being accompanied to the ring by Mr. Money in the Bank Paul Burchill, standing at 6’4, weighing in at 257lbs, from Miami, Florida, this is Orlando Jordan! When the bell rings the man in charge, WWX senior official, Dan Engler!”
Burchill: “I have already said my piece about this match, but before it gets underway I want to clear some things up. I heard that the General Managers feel the Money in the Bank matches are not having the impact on the company that it was felt they were going to, even though Mankind just cashed in and won the World Title. It should be an honor to have somebody like me be both the holder of this briefcase and the number one ranked challenger for the World Television Championship, which, might I add, is such a big match that it is billed as tonight’s main event. Whether I win or lose tonight it does not matter because I have done far more than a lot of WWX superstars can say already. General Managers should be asking, better yet begging, for a trade to get me. Now, beat the hell out of him Jordan.”
McMahon: “It’s hard to argue with him there.”
Ventura: “What? No it’s not. Burchill is all talk. He won the Money in the Bank ladder match, but he hasn’t gotten anything else he’s gone after. Even their tag team couldn’t win the big one, McMahon.”
Engler calls for the bell.
Tatanka ducks the slap from Jordan and starts raining in punches.
The bell dings.
Tatanka (Manager: WWX Television Champion Kurt Angle) vs. Orlando Jordan (Manager: Mr. Money in the Bank Paul Burchill)Jordan reverses an irish whip attempt. Tatanka runs right into a back elbow from Jordan. Engler momentarily separates the two of them and they go to lock up, but Jordan kicks him in the midsection instead. Jordan slams his head off the top turnbuckle and hits a flurry of jabs to the face. Jordan irish whips him into the opposing corner. Jordan charges, but Tatanka moves out of the way and goes back to the lefts and rights. Jordan reverses another irish whip attempt, goes for a back bodydrop, but Tatanka kicks him in the face. Tatanka winds back for a clothesline, but Jordan drops him down to the mat with a boot to the face. Cover by Jordan hooks the leg: 1..Tatanka powers out. Jordan pulls him up a bit and sets him in a reverse chin lock. Tatanka starts getting back to his feet, but Jordan stops him with a knee to the midsection. Jordan clubs him on the back and tosses him over the top rope. Tatanka lands on the apron, but Jordan does not see it. Jordan finally turns around and charges at him, but eats a shoulder block. Tatanka goes for a sunset flip and Jordan hangs on to the top rope. Jordan stomps on Tatanka’s face.
McMahon: “You see Jordan having a few words with the Television Champion at ringside. You have to wonder how he is feeling right now as Tatanka is not faring too well in this one.”
Jordan puts him in a bow and arrow submission with his knee squarely in Tatanka’s back. Tatanka fights his way back up and delivers the elbow strikes to Jordan’s midsection. Jordan hits another knee to the midsection and slams his head off the turnbuckle once more. Jordan now driving the shoulder into the gut in the corner.
Ventura: “We see Burchill could not be more pleased in his corner and Angle trying to give Tatanka possibly a change of plans here. It looks like that was good advice because Jordan went for a big splash in the corner with nobody home. This could be the turning point in this match, McMahon, keep your eye on Tatanka.”
Tatanka catches him with a clothesline coming out of the corner. Then, a running fist to the face and a flapjack into a cover: 1..kick out. Tatanka comes off the ropes looking for another big clothesline, but Jordan catches him with a sit-out spinebuster.
McMahon: “Hold on, Jordan looks pleased with the way this matchup is going, but he is asking Burchill for the Money in the Bank case, only it’s Kurt Angle that has it right now. Angle tossing it back to Burchill and mind games being played on the outside which is causing Jordan to lose his focus. This could be a costly mistake by Jordan who tells Angle to ‘watch this’.”
Jordan walks right into a back elbow to the midsection. Tatanka with a double leg takedown for a cover: 1…2..no! Jordan ducks a running clothesline and pushes Tatanka into a corner for a rollup. Tatanka uses the momentum and rolls through for the rollup in his advantage now: 1…2…3!Roberts: “
Here is your winner, as a result of a pinfall (roll up), Tatanka!”
Ventura: “He did it, McMahon. Look at Angle, the Television Champion can barely contain his enthusiasm.”
McMahon: “Tatanka is a made man, in Angle’s words, and Jordan absolutely cannot believe it. All week long everyone has been bringing up Tatanka’s past, but I think this has to silence all of those people for the time being because Tatanka will be getting a WWX Tag Team Championship match somewhere down the line.”
