I've been MOC collecting the AEW Unrivaled Series and was always wondering when I would call it quits.
Never saw myself collecting more than the first 10 series MOC unless we knew there was going to be a definite end to the line close to that number.
I was able to make the first preorder of Series 1-4 on RSC MOC with protectors and completely missed Series 5 today running errands. I'm taking that as a sign. I will keep the First 4 Series MOC and pick up others I find in stores or preorder individual guys I like from this point on.
Good luck to those who will keep on trucking, the boxes and figures look great displayed.
There is a sense of relief now, I recommend it.

How did you miss something you can still order?

How did you miss something you can still order? I’ll clarify that I took missing the initial preorder#1 as a sign to throw in the towel on preordering future full sets. I guess I was looking for a way out of the completist rabbit hole and I’m using this as justification. I’ll give the hunt game a try!

At the end of the day if this line is going to successful it has to be at least semi-obtainable at retail. There are core collectors who will pre-order all or a majority of sets. But that's not going to be sustainable longterm.
I'm cautiously optimistic that it'll get there. But it needs to happen sooner than later.

Why? Series 5 is still available. I dont blame you though. This line has been a scalper's wet dream since day 1.

Anything that breaks you out of the completionist mindset is good, in my opinion. Just buy the ones you want. Not everything, out of some sort of duty or compulsion.

LOL [me for the chases]

Personally, I've had no interest in keeping any series MOC besides #1, with Jeremy's promise to see a corrected re-run and likelihood of more releases for the first 6 (and have already met with 4). If/when we start getting legends, I'll revisit my stance but no modern guys or gals I see myself keeping in the box.

I just can't do it until I see painted mock-ups. A 3D render just doesn't do it for me unfortunately.

Series 1 I did not preorder, and kicked myself. I had to go to a remote Walmart to find them. The rest I’ve preordered. Up til Two days ago I’d only seen series 2 at retail once, at another remote Target. All they had was Dustin and the Lucha Bros. Then two days ago I found another Dustin, 2 MJF, a Fenix and a Hangman. I was thinking that maybe they’re starting to hit (although this was at another extremely remote Walmart). Today however I saw Riho, PAC, and Matt Jackson at a Target in the Bay Area (a notoriously scarce place to find figs). Are they finally hitting proper?

I hope so, but still not seeing anything meaningful on the east coast. But with all the snow and ice I haven't been able to check much lately.

I mean, not being able to grab the chases is a frustrating experience of course, but everything else has been totally obtainable. it's costly for sure, but costs don't sound like the bone of contention here.

Collecting figures is supposed to be fun, but does that describe trying to obtain them or the state of the hobby right now?

I went into this knowing I would cherry pick. I don't have the space or the pocket money to do full sets. Hell, several years back, I decided I would be picky. Only collecting figures I really liked, of guys I enjoyed.
So far, I have the Bubbly Jericho RSC (which was my first Jericho since WCW Ring Masters), for the AEW figure belt. Then, the wife got me S1 Omega for my birthday last year. Just this afternoon, I snagged a Pre-Order #3 of Jungle Boy. Now, once Dr. Britt gets her first figure, I'll pre-order one, and then I'll be satisfied.
