I know this is the WWE board, but this is huge news for every promotion. We can discuss here how it impacts McMahon's promotion - a 22-year run comes to a close. Did not see this coming at all. Gotta be their biggest sign ever, bigger than Jim Ross, Chris Jericho, or Matt Hardy. Wow! www.ringsidenews.com/2021/02/24/aew-signs-the-big-show-paul-wight/

sorry but AEW signing another WWE or WCW star waaaaaaaaaaaaaay past their prime is not a big deal. Let me know when they steal away a star who has like 10 years of his prime left,

WWE is building their company around Edge right now, who is literally one year younger than Big Show. You know this is big.

Biggest literally, perhaps. Figuratively, I don't think so.

They are building a storyline around Edge...The company is built on Drew and Roman right now.

Apparently he is signed as a commentator, so hopefully he won't be persuaded to do anything dangerous or too stupid. It is technically a huge deal as he is a world famous name so this draws a ton of attention to them. If only they could book their way out of a paper bag.

It’s a nice get for them, but really nothing more. Hopefully he is a good commentator and doesn’t get in the ring.

He's a good get for their new show. One of the best to ever do it. Surprised though but damn. Big business even if his days in the ring are behind him.

AEW Fans: WWE just relies on old stars instead of building new ones!

I'm fine with him primarily serving as a commentator (he's a really good speaker on podcasts), a phenomenal PR guy to have, and I'm even okay with him as an occasional wrestler

Another legend that was mistreated during their time towards the end in New York so they split. Now if Kurt would join AEW that would be something. But he keeps turning down offers from Vince to do producing, training & managing. Plus he has his new podcast gig. So he probably wouldn't.

All due respect to Show, I don’t think he’s worth that kind of money. And you know for sure Show wouldn’t have left WWE if Tony Khan didn’t offer him substantial money. If he’s going to only be commentating, fine, but I don’t have any interest in seeing Big Show perform in a ring in 2021, same goes for Sting.

It’s only been a couple years and I’m already tired of the WWE vs AEW fan mindset. There isn’t an actual competition. You can like both. Him signing doesn’t hurt WWE. Good for him getting the paycheck. Honestly though, I haven’t given a damn about anything the guy has done since 2008, so this news doesn’t really matter to me.
