I was really shocked and surprised when I read Paul Wight jumped feds. I started watching wrestling right before he debuted in WWF at St. Valentines Day Massacre. Granted, get treated (more or less) like a joke for 15 years, you would probably want to try something new.
This is huge for AEW. Wonder what his name will be? "Big" Paul Wight. "Big Giant" Paul Wight. "Jumping" Paul Wight.

Kind of cool for AEW I guess. They need to bring in household names to get the casual viewer to check in. As long as they know their role and aren’t an every week thing or in the main event I don’t see the problem. Wwe brings back older guys all the time. It’s just something needed to get people to say hey this guy is here? Let me see what he’s doing

A "house-hold name" is someone who is very famous. It's absolutely nothing to do with any of what you just said. Big Show is extremely famous. My 62 year-old dad knew who he was before he died, my 3 year-old son knows who he is, my students at work understand the reference if I ever say "how do you expect me to reach that? I'm not the Big Show!". He is a household name. So because people YOU know know who he is, he’s a “house-hold” name? Nah. Now The Rock, Stone Cold, John Cena... these are house-hold names. Big Show is easily a house hold name. Is crazy to think otherwise. People know who he is. Simple as that. He does t need to be a “draw” to be a house hold name.

House hold name means just that every house hold knows who he is, and tbh there are no wrestling names currently outside of Hogan, Flair, Rock, Cena, Stone Cold, or maybe Ronda and Brock that fit that criteria. Big Show is not one of those names. Nothing against him, house hold name just means that.

I think the problem with Paul Wight is that he was most popular during his WCW run as The Giant. I seem to remember the general populace knowing him as The Giant (back in the day). The WWE was never really able to capitalize on him outside of that moniker. I am really surprised they didn't start calling him The Giant again when WWE bought WCW and all of their trademarks. But then you add on the fact that he was booked as a total joke for most of the last 15 years.

And the total number of more viewers AEW will get: None Well they are airing a new show so quite the opposite lol. On YouTube. They only have something like 1 million subscribers. It's not like they are going to get 69 more million to watch this.

Define “house-hold” name Of course he’s lasted from the Attitude Era thru current product but house-hold name means you put asses in seats. Big Show was never a name to that extent. While I don’t understand why AEW would throw away money like that, I think it’s a good deal for Show, considering that he has very little to offer as a performer, and commentating? Who even knows. He’s not a guy people are going to tune into see or buy a ticket to watch or buy merchandise. Now Sting, I understand why they signed him. While he may not be able to perform, his likeliness alone is worth it. The merchandise, action figure, etc. Sting is a very good get compared to Big Show. I think those examples would be more widely applicable to Andre the Giant.

Like I've written elsewhere, its not a loss for WWE at all and a very minimal gain for AEW. WWE lost a guy that's used to job once a year and aew gained an announcer that less than 500k people will likely hear.

And on the note, we're done here.
I'm amazed at the generally lack self-awareness some have.
