Martinsville (10/15/01)
The race was scheduled for Sunday, October 14. 2001, But it got called off due to rain, Earnhardt will go sixteenth place. Earnhardt never has control of the lead although he tries to get the lead on several occasions, but gets loose in the end, Mark Martin wins the Martinsville Race by edging out Bill Elliott.
Talladega (10/21/01)
Dale Earnhardt is putting his Winston Talladega Win on the line and amazingly he will start first on the pole. Earnhardt gets shut off the pole by his own driver Michael Waltrip. But Robby Gordon, Dale's new teammate will take the lead back from Waltrip. But in the end, Earnhardt's son Dale Jr gets another Talladega Victory, and Earnhardt couldn't be much happier in victory lane, a lesson Dale Jr used from his father back in late 2000 as he came eighth from first to win it all. And to make it more better, the father finishes second alongside Dale Jr. Earnhardt who celebrates with his son in victory lane says "A son beat his father and I'm happy that he beat me to win the race".
Phoenix (10/28/01)
Dale Earnhardt races in Phoenix as he starts out in twenty-ninth place. Earnhardt has the lead for a few minutes and will hang on to that lead to get another 2001 Victory and go straight to the points lead beating Jeff Gordon in first place.
Rockingham (11/4/01)
Dale Earnhardt does not have a good day in Rockingham as he is out of contention early with 9 laps in the Nascar Race and the victory will go to Bill Elliott.
Miami (11/11/01)
Dale races in Miami, he finishes third in qualifying and will have a good race, this could be his last shot of reaching Jeff Gordon in the point standings. He eventually gets by Gordon and has the lead for a moment until it gets snatched away once again by Gordon, but in the closing moments with ten laps to go. Earnhardt gets his lead back and wins the Miami Race once again to take first back and potentially, his 8th Winston Cup Championship, his first one since 1994.
Atlanta (11/18/01)
Dale Earnhardt races the next to last race, Atlanta was originally supposed to be the final race of 2001 but due to 9/11, New England will be the final race on November 23, 2001. Earnhardt eventually does win his eighth championship by leading the race in lap 35 through 87. Despite the eighth championship win, however. Tony Stewart will win the Atlanta Race, Earnhardt gets a big celebration at the end when Richard and Kyle Petty, his son, his new teammates Robby Gordon, Jeff Green and Kevin Harvick, his 2 car owners Michael Waltrip and Steve Park are also there to celebrate with Dale, Steve Park is still injured. But still makes it to Dale's celebration. Dale announces that he's got a few more championships to win and that he won't retire just yet. Dale's mother, wife and his daughters were also in attendance. Dale says "Thank you to GM Goodwrench, Nabisco, Oreo, Sonic, Hershey's. Van Camp Beans, Snap On Tools, Perdue, DEI, Richard Petty, my Dad, Neil Bonnett, Adam Petty, Alan Kulwicki, Davey Allison, My Son, My Wife, My Daughters and my Car Owners Michael Waltrip and Steve Park and to everybody that made it all possible. And to you the American Fans, in September of this year, we lost many lives in New York City, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania, but this championship is not only for us, this championship is not only for the fans. This Championship is not only for myself, this Championship is for America, this is what I wanted to do my whole life and at the age of 50, i'm untop of the mountain once again. Richard and Dale both share a hug.
New England (11/23/01)
Dale content with winning his eighth Championship can now look forward to his final race, he shows off his dominance in New England, but he finishes second however his teammate Robby Gordon wins the race for the final 2001 season.
Let's see what 2002 will bring for DEI and we will see if Dale Earnhardt can pick up more momentum.
