But Paul Wight said it was a "Hall of Fame worthy" talent, not a Hall of Famer and Angle is in WWE and TNA's HOFs. I know it’s a weird wording but I mean Tony Khan said it’s true like three times in his comments, and it doesn’t seem like it’s a active wrestler. I mean who can it be? Maybe its Ric Flair or Batista, which is why Paul Wight called the PPV Evolution, not Revolution

It won't be Punk only because I assume if he came back to wrestling he'd want to do it in front of a packed arena. And by assume I mean I'm just guessing because I don't know the man or what he thinks.

If it were Punk, it would be huge news that they would want to announce ahead of time, especially selling a PPV. Angle makes sense and it’ll be treated like a big deal which is great for Kurt but at the end of the day a Kurt that can’t physically work doesn’t add much. Lawler would be a huge surprise considering he’s been WWE for nearly thirty years, and still occasionally works. Henry said he wants to work into his fourth decade, but I don’t see him ever leaving the WWE umbrella. Brock, lol dream on.

PPV sales are important for AEW, but not as important as their tv/ad revenue deal. It would make sense if he showed up at a PPV and then people tuned in to check out his first Dynamite. Plus, it might even get some PPV buys after the fact because of the debut. You can keep Lawler. AEW already has a JR problem they can't shake.

Unfortunately I think it’s Angle.
Don’t get me wrong, Angle is the greatest of all time in my opinion, but they need wrestlers. They do need attractions as well, but they need more roster depth. Sting is an attraction, he will sell tickets. Plus he wants to repair his legacy after WWE tanked him, but he’s not going to be a full time wrestler. Big Show Paul Wight is definitely an attraction, and he likely will sell a few tickets. They can both produce even in diminished capacity. Angle would be better as a one-off appearance for the legitimacy aspect. Unless he’s brought back as a heel commissioner or something the money would be better spent elsewhere.. and it pains me to say it, I adore Angle. At the end of the day however, he can’t wrestle. I mean, he could, but his final WWE run was depressing. I don’t want to see anything like that ever again.
2nd guess is Christian, which would be another unwise move. I like him, but he’s no Edge. He’s a Matt Hardy caliber talent: upper mid carder who can wander into main events under the right circumstances. I don’t mind a little age and experience, but the last thing I want for AEW is for it to become a TNA-esque retirement league. Angle and Christian are Dixie Carter style picks. If they are signed, who next? Scott Steiner? Ugh..
As much as I loathe him.... the best bet would be Punk. I don’t think there’s a chance of that, but he’s an attraction, he’s old, but not chewed up and shat out (Christian, Matt Hardy, or other ex TNA-ists), and as much as I hate to admit it he’s a bonified main eventer who will sell tickets, merch, etc.
Final thought: Even though I think he’d do more harm than good for AEW, part of me thinks it would be hilarious if it were Brock, just because Vince would have an absolute conniption.
