Vince McMahon once said NXT is "the next evolution of WWE; the next evolution of television history". NXT was to introduce and bring forth the next breed of WWE superstar.
Its 2021 at it seems NXT is a place holder for people to thrive in but not in any other brand. Once they leave NXT, they end up losing their name, push or identity.
Whats the point of having your own home grown place to create "new" wrestlers (NXT) but not have the faith, in them carrying the WWE flag as main eventers?

No different when Vince, Steph, and HHH opened Raw a few years ago claiming they’d start listening to the fans...all fluff. NXT has been stagnant for a while, to the point they even moved Finn back to the show because Cole’s title reign was dragging on far beyond its expiration date and they had no one outside of Keith Lee to take the reigns (whose title reign they cut short to promote and waste on the main roster.

nxt is rather really good or bland af. very little inbetween. but I love the good so much.
it just lacks momentum for the last year or so, but I think a lot of that is the virus hampering developing talents from being able to make their impact and come in
I know it's not happening any time soon, but they should drop the big bucks for Ospreay, Jay White and Jeff Cobb. right there you've revitalized the entire promotion.

Most of the WWE roster in 2021 is from NXT.
Of all the matches announced for WrestleMania so far, the only one that doesn’t have someone who came from NXT is Bad Bunny vs The Miz. And even that has Damian Priest involved.
Kofi Kingston and Dolph Ziggler are the only current champions that didn’t come from NXT.
Last year’s WrestleMania main event (night two) was won by a wrestler who came through NXT. The year before that, two NXT graduates main evented.

NXT is still my absolute number 1 go to. I enjoy it thoroughly every week. It very much reminds me of ROH 2010-2015 where most of the storylines take place in the ring. I do agree that previous to the pandemic they had a great system for filtering guys in and out and moving guys up the card. I do think the pandemic hurt that a bit. But I think after mania and the addition of NXT Evolve we will see more card shuffling.

It's still doing it's job.
On a personal level nxt has been very hot and cold for me the past year, but I think a lot of that has to do with me not having an interest in a fair amount of the guys down there right now. (They were guys I was never particularly into on the indie scene either so it's not like it's NXT changing them that's making me not interested).
Not everyone who gets called up is going to succeed. Sometimes, that's on the guys in charge on the main roster screwing it up. Sometimes, it's on the talent. Find me one pro sport where there aren't flubbed number one draft picks, etc. It happens. Likewise sometimes all that's needed is a trade (ie go to a different company, like juice Robinson heading to New Japan and starting fresh there).

The point of NXT is:
A. To work for the WWE without working for Vince McMahon. Imagine a professional athlete electing to go back to college, because the owner and coach isn't utilizing their talents properly, only in this case, they're still getting paid.
B. To fully prepare Triple H to expand his NXT Kingdom by taking over the WWE Universe. It is inevitable ... and I can't wait. I just wish Vince would hand it over while he's around to see Hunter do HHH things.
C. To triple down on the product. If Raw and Smackdown can make money, then NXT can too. I'm surprised with don't have live WWE shows 7 days a week yet.
D. To be a combination of ECW, OVW, FCW, WWECW and the original version of NXT, all in one. Developmental AND profitable, all under their control, is the combination they want. I have 16 Championship Title Belts from NXT, and 6 Championship Title Belts from WWE that are now NXT. When can we expect the NXT Cruiserweight and NXT UK Championship Title Belts??
E. To go head to head with any opposition. As Magneto once said, "that's why the pawns go first."

I feel that it's still developmental despite it being treated as a third brand for a little bit a few years ago. It's not a traditional developmental anymore though, but the goal and sort of ultimate destination for people who sign to WWE is still Raw and Smackdown. NXT is still super valuable to WWE though; Rollins, Reigns, McIntyre, Bray Wyatt are all main eventers that came from the brand.
I do agree with you on the identity part though. I feel a lot of the intricacies of characters and their traits get lost when they move onto the main roster but other times they get more fleshed out.

At first, it was to destroy the indies. Then in it tried to siphon viewers from AEW. Now it's kinda pointless.
I'm only half serious.

5/6 of the main roster single champions are from NXT(Drew just lost the WWE title about a month ago after holding it for about 75%+ of the year) 4/6 of the tag team champions are from NXT I'm probably forgetting somebody but I think every Women's champion since Rousey has came from NXT including the tag champs.
That's not even counting guys like Rollins,Owens,Zayn,Bray,Nakamura,Street Profits, Ricochet,Woods,Apollo,Cedric,Gable that all held titles since being on the main roster.
I hate it for guys like Black,Ricochet and Andrade but not all NXT alumni gets wasted.

Yeah, some guys have gotten the callup and just been an overall wet fart, but the weird sort of narrative that success for NXT alums only exists in NXT is just more IWC hyperbole. To your point about the women's championships, it's not even since Ronda...every Raw and Smackdown Women's champion except Ronda Rousey, Naomi, and Natalya worked their way through the current incarnation of the NXT system.

NXT is either a third brand on par with Raw and Smackdown or the developmental territory. Of course, everyone seems to go back and forth on this to fit their narrative.
So ultimately the point is to be entertainment. That's all I've got.

When NXT was an hour long episode each week only seen on the WWE Network it had some charisma to it. It felt like how it was for us older fans in the 90s when we would catch ECW on a random channel at like 1 am because it didn't fit anywhere else on the channel.
NXT was that for us on the WWE Network. And now, with it being on USA Network it comes off as just a third brand that is in between Raw and Smackdown each week. Nothing special about it anymore.

to have a 3rd "spot" for a part of their enormous roster to go and work. to make money for the company. to give otherwise unknowns a place to shine on national TV. to give the fans more wrestling. to give the industry more wrestling.
