I posted this experience to express my disgust for those who are depriving others from the experience of finding figures on the shelves. Won't argue or try to prove anything to those accusing me of being one of them. I'm on the verge of distancing myself from the hobby altogether. In fact this will be my last post. Goodbye! LOL literally everyone who buys a figure before you is depriving you the experience of finding a figure on the shelf.

Everyone rags on sclapers (and scalpers suck, yes), but then you come on here and read regular collectors saying they're buying two figures when they see them on the shelves.

I had something similar happen... I was at my buddy's toy shop and he had one Hulk Hogan Elite 34 mint in box marked for 70 bucks. As we were talking some guy asked if he could see so my buddy says sure and hands him the box, while that guy is looking at the figure another dude walks up and says I will give you 90 for it as the other guy was still checking the figure out LOL So the other guys says I will give you 95 lol and all of a sund a bidding war breaks out, long story short the dude that walked in bought the figure for 160 bucks! lol Any of you guys see anything crazy like this in regard to WWE Mattel figures and I'm not talking about the insane prices on ebay lol. I love you. This is my favorite thing right now.

People post videos of their toy hunts, cleaning out the pegs and get congratulated by collectors on nice finds or a good job, but then store employees get accused of stealing figures with no evidence when collectors cant find what they are looking for.

I imagine scalpers as loser nerds with no lives. This is just a hobby for me. I’m not going to buy figures to resell them for higher. I have better things to do.

Let's just keep it positive. I agree -- I mainly feel sorry for those people. Think how sad/desperate you must be to be doing what they are.
Sometimes it helps to put yourself in another person's shoes for a minute -- no mentally healthy person who's not in big need of money would spend their days and time this way...

The best ones are the people who post pics with 5+ of the same figs. Then say all extras are for "friends, fellow collectors" aka buyers

You can’t scalp a second hand store, you can bargain hunt and resell.

I think scalping has become a “catch all” term in collecting. To me, finding something in a second hand store isn’t scalping. Holding on to a figure, like SES CM Punk, and selling years later for a higher price is part of the game. I expect that if I don’t buy a figure when it’s out that I’ll have to pay more for it in the future. Scalping to me is when you see people clear out the entire inventory of one or multiple stores in an area. This creates false demand through scarcity and leaves you no where to turn but eBay or FB where these people have posted the same figures for double or triple.

A scalper is someone who cherry-picks and buys all the hot/popular items with the sole purpose to sell them for a profit.

This situation with scalpers is ridiculous these days....why exactly is it like this now? ....I can remember very well going into stores during the Jakks era & being able to find the new series & pretty much every wrestler in those series with no problems.....why is it so different these days?

Makes sense I guess & plus the quality of the figures & scans has also improved dramatically over the years

This video explains why pegs often remain empty after figures are sold out in the toy aisles.

I've definitely seen plenty of MIB toys at thrift stores, even if the OP is a work of fiction. Sometimes it's just someone clearing out a basement or storage unit, other times stores will dump product that doesn't sell and take the tax write off. But never anything from Mattel. I saw a bunch of the OSTM ECW figures on card and in good shape aside from some yellowing on the bubble maybe 2 or 3 years ago. That UFC Jakks was the giveaway for me, considering the history with that line and this board. There have been a weird ton of posts lately of ridiculous stories. I loved me some Jakks UFC back in the day. I know they get a bad rap on here, but the figures were awesome and that real scale octagon was perfect. I still got all mine.

Its the best selling toyline of all time, but Jazwares UFC will break that record.
