I'm curious, are any other members here in recovery/sobriety? My sobriety date is 5/23/15, god willing, I celebrate 6 years next month

I stopped drinking in 2006. I would drink until there was nothing left, or until I blacked out. Haven't had a drop since then.

That's really impressive. Congratulations on the milestone.
I drink a bit more than I'd like to admit, amongst some other things, but I don't feel like it's a problem. Though I do recognize that it can be a slippery slope and it's definitely something I keep in mind often.

I was an opiate addict for about 10-15 years. It escalated from pain pills to a lot worse by the end. I've been clean since 2017 from that crap. I'm on a cocktail of amphetamines and benzos now, though. It keeps me from losing my job and mind at the same time, and I haven't taken more than my prescribed amount in forever. (I've got full bottles that I haven't even opened... I generally don't touch anything on the weekends, which is kinda ironic.)

My brother quit drinking years ago. He now drinks soda instead.

Yup. Bipolar Disorder is a dick and I have done my battles with substance abuse as a result. Probably have the genes for addiction at the end of the day. I am glad to be in recovery and congrats to all who are. Anyone still battling - always be willing to seek help. Ignore the haters and keep pushing through.
